Relexa Hotel Bellevue an der Alster

Hamburg|0.96km from Alster Lakes
From outside the hotel makes surely a super impression and the location at the Alster is also top, unfortunately it was also with the positive. As in some reviews, the hotel is now ”in the years” and the Corona time has certainly backed up this and the investments have been completely stopped. The rooms are unfortunately everything other than clean, the tape floor old and dirty, the bathroom is not cleaned, shower is calcified etc. As a direct notice at the reception, the rooms are currently ”for Corona” not cleaned... which of course makes much sense because you should probably clean more and disinfect more at the moment. If I want a cleaning, fresh towels etc. I have to register this extra. Unfortunately my room was not even before my arrival cleaned. Although fresh new bed linen were available, but since there were still old towels in the waste board, they were not even empty, which is a complete no-go for me ... Breakfast was okay, But nothing special and after 3 days you had the same three times because there was no change. Reception was sporadically occupied when the staff were not smoking at the moment. Unfortunately, there was no WiFi in the hotel, which is a bad thing as you are almost all in the building No mobile reception (both with my private and service phone, which are two different networks). Price-performance is definitely not proportional here, as it is not even a cheap hotel. It will not stay here in the future.

The George Hamburg

Hamburg|0.98km from Alster Lakes
We found this hotel when planning a trip to Hamburg and were attracted by the plush, cozy but classy English design and its location near the lake. When we arrived the style did not disappoint but the service did and the lack of English. We complained about certain issues such as the really floppy and useless pillows and front of house sent up housekeeping that didn’t speak a word of English so the problem didn’t get resolved the first night. It was rather frustrating. Used crockery was left in the room for the entire stay and shower gel nor shampoo was replaced. It’s safe to say that housekeeping worked below standard for a 4* hotel. The room looked stylishly decorated but was getting a little tired with marks on the walls, massive chips in furniture, tears in the curtains and rings on the wooden surfaces from glasses. Room 502 just needs quite some TLC to get back to that 4* standard. It’s a shame because the first impression was quite nice. We had a balcony and a view of the lake which was very cool. The bar downstairs was very classy and buzzing every evening. Shame the Campari lounge on the roof wasn’t open even though the weather was great. So we went and took our business to the bar in Le Meridien which was awesome. A missed opportunity in my opinion. That bar should have been open. Finally 29 euro per person for an hour in a sauna (they call it a spa area) is just too much, definitely when they leave out lemon water that had stood out in the sun for hours, perhaps days, and had gone off. It was horrible. An overall disappointing experience as I expected so much better. I would not go back to stay at this hotel, but the bar is definitely worth a visit and I am still curious about the Campari lounge.

I got a 60 min massage today. It was a great experience. In the waiting area there was a tea for unanimity (which would be super if the used kelch were marked). I was picked up by a very friendly massage. She explained to me very great at the beginning what she was doing now and it was very kind. On the side I was very comfortable and I got a towel between my legs. The massage oil was preheated and the hand pressure of the massage was top. At the end there was another neck massage that was so nice and under the knees I got a towel roll. The room was warm and there was quiet relaxing music. About succeeded.

We love everything about the Fontenay! It is like being on a private, modern yacht & you never want to disembark! All the rooms are very clean, comfortable & spacious. Concierge desk goes the extra mile to get you want you need - from event tickets to elaborate international shipping of my suitcase. LOVE the breakfast & the outdoor seating is gorgeous with the view and light from the Alster. LOVE the pool & outdoor sunning terrace. Be great if more outdoor lounge chairs could be added. LOVE the big sauna & view of the city & steam room. Excellent manicure at Spa. Excellent food & drink on rooftop terrace. Front Desk followed through on giving us the Amex Centurion Card ”early check-in based upon availability” which makes a HUGE difference. Love to get an upgrade ”based upon availability” next time as well as we will be back soon!

Room was nice and spacious, clean. But avoid the breakfast at all costs. It is in a TINY (and I mean tiny area) where the buffet is put out, meaning there isn't enough space to get food, there isn't enough space for the staff to put out the food. It feels like a real battle just to go there to get a coffee. The area is so cramped and small that the food laid out is in very small portions, so it needs constantly refilling every 2 minutes, yet there isn't enough space for the staff to keep bringing the food out. Why they just don't open up a bigger area and have more food out is a complete mystery.
