This magnificent hotel is beautifully located on the slopes of Nakiyama at Happo-one. The decor is very tastefully Austrian, including the adjoining Bernd’s Keller where we enjoyed breakfast and many dinners. Our hosts Naoko and Bernd provided generous warm welcomes every day. All the staff echoed the same lovely atmosphere, well taught! We stayed for 11 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Marillen and in the Hakuba Valley, that despite an injury preventing skiing early in our stay. If you are coming to the Hakuba Alps, stay here!

This is the absolute perfect hotel for ski in / ski out in Hakuba!! The staff are super friendly and the owners, who live on site, are always there to help. They even offer a free to use washer and dryer which is a huge help when you are travelling around Japan before or after skiing The location provides easy access to the village and all of the local restaurants.

Great location right next to ski lifts, easy access into town and to complimentary Onsen facilities at an associated hotel. Fantastic food to keep you going on the slopes. Bernd and Naoko and their staff could not have been friendlier or more helpful, no request was too much for them.

Outstanding hotel. Rooms are very.comfortable and multi lingual customer service is outstanding. The breakfast is one of my favorite experiences. My favorite is the ski-in ski-out location amenity. Plenty of restaurants, bars and shopping in walking distance. You can’t beat it. The place sells out quickly, so book early. Enjoy.

You take your chances on snow conditions, and for the most part we were in luck! But where we lucked out the most was the superb hospitality offered by owners Bernd and Naoko who went out of their way to make our stay memorable: THANK YOU! Location is as close to the slope as is possible and an easy walk into the Happo village. Reminiscent of a German mountainside hospiz, we highly recommend it! Mark

The Hotel was everything we hoped it would be. A beautiful chalet style hotel on the door step of the mountain with spacious and comfortable rooms (bathrooms small but adequate). The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful and Naoko on more than one occasion went out of her way to assist us with transfers and transport to other parts of the mountain. The restaurant served a great breakfast with great German fare available for dinner. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the hotel and will definitely stay here again should we be lucky enough to return.

This place is superb. The position is fantastic being ski in ski out and the best drying room we have experienced!!!. But that’s only a fraction of it. It’s all about the atmosphere and warmth that the manager/owners Naoko and Bernd have created. Traditional Swiss/ German architecture of the Marillen is backed up by traditional German food and service. We got our traditional Japanese meals at lunch on the mountains and it was so comforting to come back to hotel with atmosphere, friendliness and warmth after. Bernd and Naoko celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary when we were there on our stay. We look forward to being guests again when they celebrate their 26th to their 50th Jubilee!!!

Perfect ski in ski out location. Very kind and helpful owners.Beautiful large rooms. Excellent drying and ski storage facilities. Very easy to use laundry machines and dryers. A lift would be great but the young staff carried our heavy suitcases for us. Reception staff were brilliant and everyone was very friendly and attentive.

Loved the property and cleanliness. It was great waking up to the beautiful Mountain View’s each morning. Easy walks to the chair lifts. The hosts, Naoko & Bernds were very good with communication, responsive and available. Everything you need for a perfect stay in the mountains.
