Hakone Yumoto Hotel

The environment is beautiful. The receptionist was polite and the room was spacious. The restaurant staff were friendly and there are free recreational facilities available!

It is indeed quite old. If you have luggage, I suggest taking a taxi, as it's a hilly walk there, so I don't recommend going at night. The rooms are relatively old, but fairly quiet. There is no outdoor hot spring for men.

The room was livable, and many locals bathed there. It was very old-school Japanese style. Don't be fooled by the Ctrip claim that it's 350 meters from the city center; it's all a scam. The Hakone Fuji Hotel is right outside Hakone Yumoto Station, which is a good option. This hotel is a 1.2-kilometer walk uphill. The bus runs hourly, and adding a children's meal costs 12,000 yen, while dinner is 6,600 yen. A real rip-off! If your family of five is choosing a room, you can choose one with multiple guests; there are plenty of family rooms. Don't choose two with multiple guests; there are very few rooms available.

The location requires a bus ride, but otherwise, everything was great. The public hot springs, free drinks, and breakfast buffet are all included. I'd definitely consider staying here again if I'm in Hakone again.

We stayed in a premium room and had a great time as a family. It was a shame that there were no shops or souvenirs available inside the hotel, and the open-air bath was under renovation at a bad time of year, so we couldn't use it.
