The two small buildings at the entrance are also hotel rooms. Although there is no air conditioning, there is basically no need for air conditioning here. We stayed in mid-September and needed to turn on the electric heater to sleep. . The temperature was just right during the day and it was so comfortable. Picture 1 shows a large room, Picture 2 shows a large room downstairs and a small room upstairs. Picture 3 shows the main building of the hotel from a distance, the sentinel building at the door of where I live. 🫣

Arrived late in evening just before our dinner reservation…. Manager seemed a little flustered with our arrival ( only native speaker we met) Dinner was nice enough but servers were just adequate doing their work- absolutely no chat from the four we met, Spanish, Bangladeshx2 and kiwi…..( did you travel far, where are you from … nothing…. And were actually local…while there I found out it’s not family owned anymore and Ran by a company- that tells you all you need to know….. so disappointing- I’m sure it ticks over in summer months with old money regulars from down south.

Booked the Dinner, B&B package on offer. Friendly welcome from the manager who also kindly carried our bags up to our room. Our room overlooked the delightful gardens albeit the weather did not show them off to their best. We enjoyed a cup of tea in the library beside the roaring fire. Dinner itself was an absolute joy! Being Valentines we were presented with a delicious champagne cocktail made up from Secret Garden Gin and Rose Champagne. We were then given some amuse bouche including smoked salmon and caviar and a little tartlet. My starter of crab was absolutely wonderful. The ingredients that went with the crab resulted in the freshest flavours that burst in the mouth. For main pork loin was served. This was the nicest pork I have ever tasted as it was moist and succulent and literally fell away when cut. Again the accompaniments worked perfectly with this dish. A pre-dessert was served which again could not be faulted. The main dessert itself of hot apple souffle with a caramel sauce and mango sorbet were enjoyed by us both despite thinking we could not possibly manage to eat anything else! This was not the end of the meal as coffee was offered along with some petit fours. I have to say that the entire meal was one of the best I have had in a long time and I cannot praise the chef highly enough. Overall this is a delightful hotel with lovely friendly staff and I would recommend it to anyone. I know many reports state the hotel is a bit "tired" but this is a fairly old manor style building that has its own special charm which for me is ideal.

This hotel is exceptional from the minute we arrived to leaving the staff was very inviting. Our cottage room had everything you needed and was very comfortable. The dinner we had to the wine was excellent. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, underwhelming. But this is just my opinion.

Great one night stay after playing golf at Muirfield. Chose the caddie closest room which was sufficient for the short stay. Post dinner refreshment in the bar was a good night cap! Luggage and golf bag was conveniently stored and readily available at checkout. Breakfast was good with excellent service

We travelled recently with a group of friends with the main aim of tackling Scotland's golf courses and found some amazing hotels along the way, Greywalls being one of them. Yes the location is a golfer's dream and certainly added to our husbands pleasure but the hotel added a special element to our trip. The team were absolutely outstanding and David went above and beyond helping organise a special dinner in the whiskey room for us. The gardens are spectacular and perfect for a walk with a glass of wine. A special place.

We live locally and visit Greywalls occasionally as a treat. It has always been a wonderful experience for us. We love the building, the interior and the grounds- we even enjoy using a torch to find our way around the puddles on the walk in! The main thing for us, however, has always been the food and the service but both were disappointing this evening. The two members of waiting staff seemed keen for us to hurry up and leave and didn’t know the menu at all. We were left to find our own coats and weren’t asked at any stage how we were finding our evening. The food was fine but so disappointing for the cost and what we’ve experienced before. Maybe a lot of staff were off because it was the 2nd January but we can’t afford to spend £200+ on an adequate meal and 2 glasses of wine each whilst feeling quite unwelcome. A real shame because we’ve always found Greywalls to be such a special place. I will say that the garden is beautiful in the summer and I’ve had several lovely afternoon teas there. Maybe avoid evening meals just after Christmas!

One of my favorite hotel experiences ever. The staff was amazing and the place felt very homey. The views from the hotel are breathtaking. It is a bit far from certain restaurants and areas but the hotel offers you anything you might need. Would definitely come here again. Worth the price!

We had a wonderful Christmas experience at Greywalls. The Hotel is a treasure ,excellently managed and loved by our family. Our Christmas dining experience was excellent and family who resided at the hotel over the weekend could not praise the hotel more for the service received.
