The White House Hotel

The staff were attentive and thoughtful, the room was clean, and the amenities were exquisite. The lake view from the window, complemented by the bridge, was truly picturesque. I particularly loved the unique retro charm of Baigongguan, a hotel with a Republic of China era theme. The lobby showcased antique pianos, old phonographs, yellowed old photo frames, and brown retro leather sofas... It truly captured the essence of both the Republic of China era and the stunning Li River landscape. I wish I had more time to stay a few more days to fully immerse myself in the culture and characteristics of that period.

All glitters is not gold. Despite carrying the name 'Baigonguan,' both the facilities and service are abysmal. 1. The staff are shockingly unprofessional. When asked to take out the trash from outside my door, one rolled her eyes. They claimed to have no ice because the restaurant operates independently. Can you believe that after I insisted, they brought ice in a hot water kettle? 2. The breakfast uses the cheapest, lowest-quality ingredients. The nuts were stale and soft, the bread rock-hard, and the coffee machine sounded like a broken tractor, producing a pale yellow liquid without any crema (anyone who knows coffee machines will understand). When the hot milk dispenser didn't work, the server actually suggested using a toothpick to unblock it! I was stunned. Then she pulled out a toothpick from somewhere and started poking the milk dispenser's spout. I thought, fine, I'll just eat some boiled eggs, but I couldn't even peel them cleanly. Anyone who cooks knows that only old eggs peel like that (see picture 1). 3. The Republic of China-era decor is just for show. The furniture looks like junk from a flea market, and the musty smell was so strong it felt like being in a petri dish of aflatoxin, keeping me up all night. I had to sleep with the windows open in sweltering heat. 4. Even the 'Republic of China' style is poorly executed. My husband pointed out that even the calligraphy and signatures on the wall were mismatched. They're charging a high price for fake artistry and false sophistication. They even asked for a five-star review; I guess that's how they get all their good ratings. In summary: For this price in Guilin, you could stay at a Hilton Garden Inn for a hundred yuan less, or the Rongcheng Hotel for a little more. It's absolutely not worth being ripped off here. Even a budget hotel can guarantee basic standards like standardized service and fresh food, which this place utterly fails to provide. To be fair, the only positive was a high-EQ front desk lady who was quite enthusiastic. But her excellent service can't save the overall dismal state of this hotel.

Absolutely loved the Grand Mansion! The moment I walked in, I was captivated by the vintage yet luxurious decor – it instantly felt like stepping back into the Republic of China era. Every corner is picturesque and perfect for photos. The staff were also incredibly warm and welcoming. Even if you don't venture out, just staying at the hotel is wonderfully comfortable. I'll definitely be back if I visit Guilin again!

This hotel is super photogenic, with beautiful scenery everywhere! The rooms have a grand Republican era vibe! It's very convenient for getting around, right in the city center, so dining and shopping are a breeze! The service is excellent, and the breakfast is delicious too.

The room has a strong Republican-era vibe, complete with an old-fashioned telephone. Downstairs in the lobby, there are some Republican-era settings perfect for photos. The location is very close to the Two Rivers and Four Lakes scenic area; the Twin Pagodas and Elephant Trunk Hill are within walking distance.

The hotel is right in the Ronghu Lake scenic area, so you step out directly into the park – the hotel itself feels like part of the attraction. However, the service could use some improvement. We booked a suite, but they only provided two sets of toothbrushes and towels, and only two cartons of milk. When we mentioned we also had a child, they brought an extra set the next day. But every evening when they brought the milk, they'd make a point of saying, 'This is an extra one for you...'

The hotel boasts an excellent location right next to Rong Lake, practically part of the city park. The stunning lake and mountain scenery are right before your eyes. The hotel itself is a classic Republican-era building, exuding a sense of history and cherished memories, like a quiet, wise elder full of stories. Our room even had a balcony, and sitting there sipping tea while gazing at Rong Lake below truly felt like escaping the hustle and bustle, bringing a sense of calm. The hotel also kindly provided coffee vouchers, which helped pass the time while waiting for our flight.
