Bayside Salgados

Lovely hotel, the room, pool, dining area all spotlessly clean. In a lovely, quiet and relaxing area. The staff are very accomodating, polite & happy. The beach is a 10 minutes walk & is beautiful white sand. Would definitely return. As a solo traveller, i felt safe.

Wow amazing stay at the Regency Salgados Hotel & Spa! From the moment we arrived to the last day of departure everything was perfect from the hotel staff, the bedrooms, walk in shower and breakfasts. Will definitely recommend this hotel to everyone and will return. Mrs Gaynor Robson

This hotel was by far the worst I've ever stayed in, and it completely ruined my holiday experience. Despite having a spacious suite, the layout was extremely unreasonable. A large portion of the room was wasted space, while the toilet area was unbearably small. The shower enclosure could barely fit two people, and the door failed to prevent water from escaping, resulting in a flooded floor outside. To make matters worse, the slippers provided were not only non-slip but made the floor even more slippery. I had a nasty fall as soon as I stepped into the bathroom, resulting in soaked clothes, a sore bottom, and a scraped hand from hitting the doorknob. If it weren't for my boyfriend grabbing hold of me, I shudder to think what could have happened if my head collided with the sink. The washbasin area was ridiculously tiny, barely leaving any space once a few cosmetic items were placed on it. Furthermore, the basin's drainage was slow. The toilet being positioned right next to the sink made it feel like bacteria could easily spread throughout the bathroom with a single flush. The quality of the paper towels was poor, and the provided shampoo and conditioner were unpleasant to use. As for the bedroom, I couldn't believe that in a supposed 5-star hotel, the twin beds were just two single beds pushed together. This caused us to get stuck in the gap between the beds during the night. Furthermore, the duvet was as thin as a sheet, and the mattress lacked the necessary softness and flexibility for a comfortable sleep. Overall, the sleeping experience was subpar. To top it all off, I am filled with anger because I missed the abysmal breakfast buffet's operating hours. I just wanted to have a good sleep and I woke up at almost 10:30am and couldn't get the breakfast in the hotel. It is beyond my comprehension why the hotel would only offer breakfast until 10:30 am. In my experience, most hotels of this caliber have breakfast service until at least 11 am, considering that guests may want to sleep in and still enjoy a meal. It feels incredibly impersonal and inconsiderate to force customers to wake up before 10 am or risk missing breakfast. I paid nearly 400 pounds for a 3-night stay at this hotel, which is situated in the middle of nowhere with unattractive decor and subpar facilities. The service provided was devastating, and I deeply regret booking this hotel. To those reading this review, I advice that if you don't want to waste a significant amount of money and ruin your mood, please avoid this disgraceful establishment that dares to call itself a 5-star hotel. It is nothing short of a scam.
VidaMar Resort Hotel Algarve

We stayed here for a week commencing Saturday 06 May 2023 (2 couples). This is a really nice hotel with plenty of space, and the whole resort is spotlessly clean. We were welcomed on arrival by some very friendly staff. We arrived about 11.30am, but the rooms were not to be available until 16:00. However, if I gave my mobile number, they would call me as soon as they were ready. We went off for a drink at the Pool bar and received the call about 13:00...excellent. Our room was a Garden/Pool view room (with partial sea views). As far as I am aware, this was a standard room. The room was huge, and had ample storage space. Very comfortable king size bed. Rain shower with separate toilet with bidet. Kettle with coffee and tea (decaffeinated coffee available from reception). There is also a small fridge. The balcony has two seats and a table. Daily maid service. Towels and bed-linen changed at request. Our package was Half Board which meant that breakfast and lunch was taken in the Ocean Buffet restaurant. There was one other Restaurant available: Prima Donna Restaurant (more on this later). The food in the buffet restaurant was very good with plenty of choice and good quality (It's hard to produce excellent quality on this scale). The service staff in this restaurant were also very good and attentive. The Pool Bar, which is only open during the day, is an al-la-carte restaurant serving a good range of very good food. Good service and friendly staff. You can order as little as 1 bucket of chips, and also share meals. We found this a food way of keeping the cost of meals down at lunchtime, when we didn't require much anyway. Prima Donna restaurant: This is offered as an alternative to the Buffet in the evening. The hotel will allow you €15.00 per person against the cost of the menu. For us, this restaurant was very disappointing as there is very little by way of an Italian atmosphere. The food was OK, but not worth spending the extra on. The staff inn here were, in my view, pretty inexperienced and without the personality you might expect in an Italian restaurant. This is definitely an area where the hotel could do better. There is a small amount of entertainment which takes place three nights a week in the lobby bar. The guitarist on Monday was quite good, the female singer on Wednesday was really good, and the male singer on Thursday (I think) needed to inject a bit more feeling and life into his act. The bar service in this area was usually slow, saved only by the personality of the barmen. Special praise should go to Carlos Santos who was always attentive and with a great personality. There is an excellent beach about 10 minutes from the hotel alnog a wooden walkway. I have two complaints: The cost of the drink was on a par with what you would purchase on George Street in Edinburgh. The other is that water should be provided free of charge in a resort like this, as water is an essential part of this type of holi

What a fabulous week I have just had with my family! The villas and the surrounding area is stunning and myself, husband and three children loved it. The villa is beautiful and is absolutely huge and has everything you need for your stay - Iron, hair dryer etc. Upon arrival your villa is stocked with shampoo, shower gel, enough toilet roll for the week etc and in the kitchen, some dishwasher tablets and cloths. We was in a three bed, three bathroom villa and when I say massive, they are! Each room had a modern feel to it and the glass walkway across the top floor and floating staircase added to that. It did seem clean when we arrived but I will say we found odd dummies etc around the villa during our stay so it can’t have been as thoroughly cleaned as we thought. You do get bath and pool towels provided and these was changed by a cleaner who came in once during our stay and cleaned around. The pool area was lovely, albeit a bit cold but this can’t be helped. You did feel safe in the villa as to get on the complex you have to pass security but all the locks are by an electric keycard, I would of felt much safer if I had a chain lock or a physical lock so I knew 100% it was locked. This was the same for the basement door which led to the underground car park and front door, you never felt like they was locked. Only thing I would consider with these villas is if you have young children you can not relax, or I felt I couldn’t. The staircase would of been better with a retractable gate as you could just walk around the staircase from coming in the front door and if you have a toddler whose wanting to run round etc they would fall the two flights down to the basement. It’s hard to explain - sorry should of took pictures. The area is really nice and quiet and the complete opposite to the centre of albufeira we visited one day and I’m so glad we chose to stay in this area. The beach is a 5/10 walk away and the waters clean and the sand clean. You can hire beds and umbrellas and if you walk further down the beach there’s a couple of snack bars open. There is a grocery shop 5/10 min walk away the other way from the villas that stocks almost anything you would need for your holiday. We ended up using Ubers all week to get to zoomarine, the marina and central Albufeira to name a few. We needed an XL Uber but the most we paid was about €18 each way, they was super quick and every time came to the villa entrance in a couple of minutes. We did eat out every night but our favourite was Scenarium, we also tried Primadonna (which was in the nearby hotel), Bellavita and Ramires. Ramires was about a 20 min drive away but is a real authentic peri chicken restaurant. You don’t get a menu just plates of chicken, fries and salad. Lots of locals in, definitely should go there to try. We also ordered 2 meals on Uber eats as we got in late but they took hours to arrive and wasn’t that good. We booked the holiday only a few weeks before going so was limited to wh
