T G Studio Hotel (Guangzhou Jiangnanxi Ergong Subway Station Branch)

It was pretty good. The location is super convenient, just a 2-3 minute walk from City No. 2 Palace subway station. The service really surprised me; whatever we needed, the young man at the front desk brought it over right away, no questions asked.

The hotel was filled with antique items, and I even found an old camera on one of the shelves, which was a nice touch. On New Year's Eve, we watched a movie in our room, and the front desk staff helped us set it up and even made us steaks – it was really great!

I stumbled upon this retro guesthouse when I came to Guangzhou and was absolutely delighted! The moment I walked in, I was captivated by the rich 'Old Canton' charm – the wooden staircase exuded a warm, aged feel, and the old posters and vintage radio on the walls instantly transported me back to a slower, bygone era. I especially want to commend the owner and his brother! When we checked in, the brother had such a bright smile. Seeing us with our luggage, he immediately came over to help carry it and even thoughtfully hand-drew a map of nearby food spots for us, clearly explaining which '腸粉' (rice noodle rolls) place was the most authentic and which dessert shop stayed open until the early hours. When we came back late at night, the owner was still brewing aged tangerine peel tea in the living room and invited us to join him for a chat about anything and everything. It felt nothing like staying in a hotel; it was more like visiting friends. The room was decorated with such attention to detail – retro floral bed sheets, a brass lamp, and even the toiletries were niche brands with a subtle floral scent. It was clean and comfortable. Outside the window was an old neighborhood, and I woke up to the sound of birds in the morning. Opening the window, I could smell the aroma from the breakfast shop next door. This kind of authentic local vibe was truly healing! The value for money is also exceptional. To find such a unique place with amazing service at this price point truly feels like hitting the jackpot! I will definitely choose this place again next time I visit Guangzhou!

The hotel is on the second floor, which made it a bit hard to find when we arrived at night. The lobby is richly decorated, and while the room was a little dated, the bed was comfortable. Overall, it offers good value for money.

The first thing I did after recently checking in was to quickly stock the fridge with drinks and fruit! Having ice-cold Coke and watermelon always on hand meant I didn't have to go downstairs for a drink in the middle of the night – incredibly convenient! Also, the graffiti wall in the lobby was absolutely lovely. While waiting for a friend, I took a closer look at the message board, and it was fascinating to see the comics drawn by other guests and the personal touches they left behind! I even added a little drawing of my own. It didn't feel like a hotel at all, but more like a friend's living room. The relaxed and free-spirited atmosphere made me want to stay longer!

Who would have thought I'd stumble upon such a chic place to stay in the vibrant and well-connected Jiangnanxi! The hotel is incredibly close to the metro station, making it super easy to reach Beijing Road and the Pearl River. The biggest surprise was finding the historic Qilou streets nearby, bustling with local life and authentic eateries. You'll find traditional Chee Cheong Fun and dessert shops literally every few steps, truly allowing you to experience Guangzhou life. When you're tired from exploring, you can simply pop back for a rest. The location is absolutely perfect! A massive thumbs up for the excellent choice of spot!
