Grandee Hotel (Guangzhou Panyu Chimelong Safari Park Branch)

The toilet in the bathroom was inconvenient; it kept flushing automatically, which wasn't a good experience. The bathroom also lacked ventilation and an exhaust system, so odors lingered. The soundproofing in each room was very poor. However, the staff had a good attitude and were very service-minded, although they seemed overwhelmed when it was busy. In the restaurant, they were constantly clearing plates, making it difficult to relax and eat; our food was taken away before we even finished. The variety of food wasn't great, especially the lack of fruit, so there wasn't much for kids to eat.

This place is super convenient when visiting Chimelong with kids! It offers excellent value for money. We stayed for three nights, and the price was fantastic. The amenities and service were pretty good too; the shower head had an issue on our first day, but it was fixed by the second. The breakfast selection was decent. Overall, it was a great experience, and getting to Chimelong by taxi was practically the minimum fare, making it a very suitable choice.

Great location! It's right by the north gate of the safari park, within walking distance, and you can hop on the mini train as soon as you enter. 😊 The rooms are clean and tidy, and there's a self-service laundry room, which is super convenient.

I've never stayed in such an expensive, yet dirty hotel. The hygiene level was comparable to a budget guesthouse. Room 8435 had a strong fishy smell upon opening the door, and it took about 30 minutes to air out enough to be bearable. Room 8437 had an even stronger fishy smell mixed with vomit, which wouldn't dissipate. I contacted the front desk to switch rooms, and they gave me what I think was room 8427, but it had an even more overwhelming vomit smell when I opened the door. Left with no choice, I asked the housekeeping auntie to re-clean the room so we could just make do. The auntie first mopped room 8437 with detergent and then with clean water, which masked the fishy smell with the scent of the cleaner. She then used the same dirty mop from earlier to clean room 8435, and the fishy smell that had previously dissipated returned, taking over an hour to clear this time. As for room 8437, the fragrant smell wore off in the middle of the night, and the fishy odor came right back.

This hotel leaves me with mixed feelings. Let's start with the positives: the front desk staff were incredibly accommodating and tried their best to meet all requests. The cleanliness was excellent; there was a reassuring scent of disinfectant upon entering. The facilities are new and fully smart, making you feel like you've truly returned to modern society from the 'primeval forest' (Chimelong Hotel, in contrast, felt like a primeval forest). The smart assistant 'Xiao Du' could control the curtains, TV, air conditioning, and even order room service. The complimentary minibar selection was very generous, and the Wanglaoji drink was delicious. The bedding was soft and comfortable. Overall, its strengths are quite remarkable. However, the downside is its hardware, specifically the terrible soundproofing. I could clearly hear flushing toilets and showers from upstairs, and especially the sound of doors opening and closing. It was banging and clanking until midnight. If you don't have trouble sleeping, I think this could be a perfect hotel. On a side note, I'd suggest considering adding carpeting to improve sound insulation; the thick carpets in Chimelong Hotel rooms significantly enhance their soundproofing.
