Nethybridge Hotel

Booked this hotel, although some of the fake 'Michelin Inspector' gang often complain and I am glad I booked it. Well, this hotel has been around for a long time, but all the staff we met did their best to welcome, be helpful and smile. The room overlooking the front garden was clean, spacious and bright. For the cost of the Highland area, we can totally accept the food we had here, it was not cooked by famous chef Raymond Blank, but it was as good as the dishes he made, but not so expensive. I hope this hotel can complete the renovation and have money, which is what the staff and customers deserve. A little criticism, there is no deer head on the fireplace at the front desk!!! Go on, guys.

We stopped by for dinner, on the recommendation of our hosts at Mt Barker bed and breakfast, also excellent, and had a great visit and some good scotch at the bar with Mark, the owner. Dinner was very good and we enjoyed ourselves in their lovely setting. My husband had the tender lamb dish, and I had excellent mussels. The service was pleasant and efficient. We'd go back if we were in the area. The walk along the street back to our b and b was along a street of former larger homes, now mostly bed and breakfasts.

Unfortunately it is slightly misleading to say this hotel has a lift to the 1st & 2nd floor, there is a lift but it is only on level with a few rooms, the majority of rooms are along multiple corridors & required going up & down stairs. Even ”ground floor” single rooms are up a few stairs. Would advise against staying if you have mobility issues or phone to ensure you can book one of the few rooms on level with the lifts. I had to go all the down to reception report my TV not working, then had to do it again an hour later when nobody had been up to deal with it, The receptionist had to ask for my room number again, so guess the original note went missing. They did come up shortly afterwards and then had to go and find a replacement remote control as it was faulty. Had a decent breakfast & at least there was plenty left, unlike last time when half the hot plates were empty & even the staff moaned when they started helping themselves when guests were still eating. Nice enough hotel, but it is a rabbit warren of rooms & don't try to use the lift when coach parties arrive with loads of luggage, you'll have a long wait. Need to put up proper yellow health & safety warning signs on doors with a step behind them and also repair uneven floor areas.
