The pool is tiny unlike the pictures. There were not enough towels in the room (said they would send up and never did) and amenities like shampoo were minuscule. Then we could not get into our room due to low battery. We waited in the hallway for 10 minutes after the front desk cleared this up until a very nice maintenance man fixed it up. Breakfast is not included. The hook on the bathroom door was broken and hanging by a thread. The air conditioner blasts directly onto your bed. The bathroom is very very small. There’s no Kleenex and insufficient toilet paper. I don’t usually hate on places but for what we paid - exceeding even prices in CA - it was sad. Two stars for nice shuttle service and nice service at the bar. Do not stay here if you can help it.

Walls are pretty thin. A lot of noise from neighbors, hallway, and service rooms. Stains on upholstery. There were used glasses sitting in the hallway for the whole 2 day stay. I feel like they could throw in complimentary parking (rather than $32 a night) since the hotel was very slow.

I've stayed here countless times over many years. It's been my go-to place in Grand Rapids. Time for a change. It's just run down. The rooms are beat up: faded furniture, wood everywhere in the room is scratched and dented, the love seat in each room is worn and tired, the lights all seem dim and all give off a jaundiced, yellow-ish hue. As for cleanliness, the sheets in my bed were very rumpled (looking more like they'd been slept in before rather than freshly cleaned) and the fitted sheet was barely attached to the mattress. In the bathroom, my toilet seat had a chip in it (?) exposing some MDF under the white surface, and the shower had lots of splotches of some pink/orange growth, plus other areas with concerning little spots of black. Overhead, a fan vent in the bathroom ceiling had massive clumps of dust hanging out of it. Gross. This hotel is getting old. The rooms feel run down. It's overdue for a major overhaul. Between the bed and the shower and the clumps of dust, my room didn't feel sufficiently clean. It all needs major work. The staff are nice. The restaurant is pretty good. But I'm done with the Courtyard. The rooms have been in a slow decline for some time, and it's past the point where I want to come back.

We stayed here for 3 nights in one of the larger rooms on the bottom floor. I’ll start with the good: I was pretty happy with the size of our room. We had four adults and had plenty of room for everyone to spread out as they wanted. The room just had a single window facing the parking garage which I’m sure many would not like but we didn’t mind it. It was a little confusing at first getting to our room but we figured out the best place to park so that we were right at our room. The pool was very easy to get to from our room and was a decent place to hang out in the evening. The room was clean and both bathrooms were very nice. The breakfast each morning was okay. It was a pretty standard fare for the type of breakfast it was. I do wish 5ere were a few more options or some variety. The highlight was the rooftop. The views are amazing and the bar up there was great. Zach the bartender was great. Very witty and funny, he had my entire family talking about him. For the “bad”, the pillows on all three beds were atrocious. None were comfortable and we all left with neck and back soreness. Housekeeping could have been better. They asked us one morning (on the day they were supposed to clean our room) if we needed anything. We said towels and maybe some other items, we were trying to hurry and I really just wanted them to look. They put some towels on the table right inside the room and left so we never got actual service. Overall it was a good trip although for the price of the room, I wish the pillows were better.

Best thing about this place is the location. Just across the street from Van Andel Arena, and maybe two blocks east of the comedy club that we went to, so both nights, it was a super quick walk ”home”. Had a one bedroom king bed suite. Quite roomy, with a kitchen area, living room, separate bedroom, and modern walk-in shower in the bathroom. Everything worked, everything was clean. Only complaint was that theres no fan in the bathroom, but, alot of hotels have this now, sadly. Parking in the garage across the street is $30/day at the moment, which, in my opinion is a little steep, but, theres a skywalk from the garage into the hotel, so that was nice. More so, in the winter, I'm sure. If in the area again, I'd definitely stay here again. Lots of places to eat within a couple blocks all around this hotel.

Great place as everyone says. We really enjoyed the king-suite overlooking the Grand River. Lots of space and balcony. Some of the balconies are jutted out so maybe are even the bigger rooms, ours was more built into the building. But we had cover when it rained! Happy hour is nice though be careful. There was an upcharge to get a glass of pinot grigio, not sure why. A lot of typical beers seemed to be an upcharge too. And the snacks are a bit skimpy but still nice they had it. Everything faces west so the sun can be brutal in the late afternoon. But it's pretty later in the evening. Walking around the park and over the 6th Street bridge made for a nice evening stroll. Would definitely stay here again.

We stay in many Hilton properties as HH diamond members. This Hilton Garden Inn is one of the BEST we have found. Check-in was fast and flawless. Our room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The staff was attentive and helpful. The breakfast was excellent - fresh, tasty, plentiful and the service was great. We could not have asked for more. Hilton is a premium brand and the people at this place really do hospitality right. Thanks for a great overnight visit!

We stayed at Home2Suites for work as it was the most centrally located hotel for our project. The check-in process was fast and the front desk person was very friendly. The room is a standard Home2Suites room, as it has a large counter area with a basic bed setup. Not my favorite bed in the world, but it will do for work. The carpet was clean of any stains, and the furniture showed no signs of wear. The bathroom was clean and had a full stand-up shower. I didn't see any signs of mold, and the floor of the shower was clean as well. We didn't use any of the amenities, such as food or the fitness center, but they looked fine.

Outstanding
MMark SchoenhalsExcellent hotel. Only disappointment is that there is no gluten free dairy free options for breakfast other than oranges, bananas and orange juice. However for those that can eat the breakfast it is great.
WWonder_GirlThis is beautiful Hotel located on beautiful location. Rooms are beautiful and walkable from the River, On the opposite street is a Grand Rapids one of the oldest building and it’s beautiful. There was a little miscommunication during our check-in. We were told that breakfast timing is from 7-10am but when we reached for breakfast at 9:10, they were already closing and cleaning restaurant. There were around 5-7 families who came after 9 for breakfast. But restaurant gave bread, fruits, butter, Jams, Coffee so we had breakfast. Other than everything was perfect.
The Fairfield Inn in Grand Rapids sent me an email asking for my feedback. The link to the survey didn't work. If it had, I would write that the tub drain was very slow, backed up over your ankles while showering. The door to the room would not lock. There is a hole in the carpet between the beds. The chair in the room is threadbare with the sides nearly falling off. The last day I was there the heaters under the breakfast items were not working. At 7:30 AM the food was stone cold. To add to my frustration they won't accept a review of the hotel and their website will not allow a contact to be made with Marriott. (Frustrating website) The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. It's not there fault the the hotel is falling down around them and the company IT doesn't work. I think they are trying to get me to go back to Hilton.
GGuest UserI want to start with the positives: Sales staff are GREAT. Front desk personnel are VERY helpful. Close to 28th Street where there's loads of restaurants and shopping. The A/C unit kept the room comfortable. The mattress and pillows were decent. The restaurant menu was good and our bartender was on the ball with our large group. Our meeting space was a good size. Our banquet meal was very good and plentiful. Now for the not-so-positives in no particular order: the baseboards in the bathroom were covered with dust and hair. The shower floor sloped in the wrong direction and pooled up where you step in. Our room carpet smelled like feet and y'all know exactly what that smells like! The lobby seating was FILTHY, STAINED and broke down. Breakfast was the same thing everyday, no variation. It is my opinion that it was not cooked on-site but was pre-cooked and reheated.
We decided to stay at this hotel for several nights since it was where the wedding reception we were attending was located. My husband and I were very disappointed, as were many of the other guests who were staying here for the same reason. We sacrificed the convenience of the wedding venue for a very poor hotel experience. I would like to mention that this was not due to the staff, whom we had no issues with. As mentioned in several other reviews, the room layouts at this 'boutique' hotel were varied and unfortunately did not take into account the comfort of the guests. Our specific room offered minimal space in the bedroom area, with lots of space devoted to a long hallway as well as an open bathroom area. The bathroom area was not separated from the bed area by a door, and our specific room housed an unused soaking tub and a two glass-sided stall shower. The fastest access to the toilet from the bedroom area required walking through the shower. Also, for a guest who chose to shower earlier than a sleeping partner, the light and noise from the shower would be very intrusive. Fortunately, the toilet area had a door for privacy. Except for the bathroom area which had ceramic tile, the rest of the living space was covered with vinyl tiles that were unsuccessfully supposed to simulate cork. This vinyl provided a very institutional, cold, and unappealing look, similar to a college dorm room. Since so much space was unnecessarily devoted to the long hall and bathroom space, the bedroom area was very cramped. There was no place to sit except for on the bed, or in a very uncomfortable, cheap plastic non-adjustable desk chair near a narrow desk. There were no bedside tables, but next to only one side of the bed was a 'cube' without storage. It was covered with a burlap-like material which we thought was a questionable choice for a room with multiple occupants. The other side of the bed had no such 'table', so if a guest required perhaps a water glass or a CPAP machine on their side, it needed to be placed on the floor. Room temperature could only be adjusted by the front desk, not by the thermostat located in the room. We didn't realize this until after a cool first night's stay when we reported that we thought our room's thermostat was broken. We were informed that room temperature adjustment was only by the front staff. No information regarding this was posted in the room. Regarding housekeeping, a small note on the inside of our door stated that there would be no housekeeping service provided, unless upon request. The closet was in the long hallway. It consisted of a small cabinet with two small desk-sized drawers that were supposed to accommodate all our belongings. In addition, only four hangers were initially provided, but this was remedied when we requested more. There was no safe in the room, which is usually standard in most hotels these days. The hotel is made up of two buildings connected by a hallway in the lobby. A
GGuest UserThe rooms are clean the hospitality was amazing. A gentleman name Luke was very accommodating when we needed assistance. Always a smile on his face an ready to help any way he can. Check in was simple rates are amazing an the breakfast is alright. Hot coffee always on. Clean pool area is being kept up. Meet a few people on our stay an overall a nice location an friendly staff. Will be back
AAnson KuoI checked in late night that’s probably I been arranged to the fairest room on 2F. Elevator is far from front desk has walked 3 to 4 mins with my two big heavy luggage. Good workout but not so good for checking in late night.
MMaps47416721072This hotel was not very clean and had a foul musty stink to it throughout! The carpet was scuzzy. And the ”continental breakfast” was not provided in a very sanitary manner. The bread, donuts and muffins were not individually wrapped, and some folks were just using their fingers to pick up their item(s). I also had an issue with my extended stay, which was arranged before my arrival and check in. At check-in I was told everything was good for 2 nights, rather than the initial 1 night . . . and at the same rate. The next morning around 11:30a I got a call on my mobile asking when I was going to check out, since check-out was 11a and my stuff was still in the room. It was a nightmare to deal with this situation, since I was more than an hour away. Further I was told the room rate for the extra day would be more than my initial rate. After messing around with it for about 20 minutes, I was assured it was fine. (She had to speak with the clerk from the day before.) The whole experience was a nightmare . . . I will probably avoid this location in the future.
