Holiday Inn Appleton

Grand Chute|2.56km from downtown
I returned to WI to visit family for the first time since September 2019 and usually stay with my family but because of COVID and vaccine hesitancy (seriously, people) in addition to the fact I was traveling with a friend, opted to stay at a hotel. I chose the Holiday Inn because they had an airport shuttle as well as a fitness room. I could not be more impressed with this hotel. I am an international traveler and have stayed at myriad hotels, usually with Accor or iPrefer and I would say this hotel rivals some of the nicer Novotel places I have stayed at in Europe. The room was well appointed with a relatively generous sized mini fridge and plenty of storage/closet space. The bathroom and shower were a decent size and the amenities (lotion, shower gel, etc.) were nice. As someone else mentioned, the blackout shades were a plus and I actually found the bedding, including the pillows to be comfy. The fitness room is top notch (hope they keep up on the equipment maintenance) and the pool and whirlpool area is nice. My only complaint was that there was a group of kids that treated the whirlpool like a kiddy pool when I wanted to chill after the elliptical. Granted I didn’t say anything to the hotel staff but I can’t imagine they didn’t see it on security monitors. For now, they aren’t doing housekeeping which I know is due to COVID and wasn’t a big deal for a 2 night stay. The hotel bar was only open from 6-8 (I think) but that was fine for our purposes. When we arrived on Friday night, we met with my aunt out on the fantastic patio and had rose from the bar with pizza delivered from Stucs (highly recommend). All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would stay here again in a heartbeat and have recommended it to my mother who will be visiting the area in September.

Baymont by Wyndham Appleton
3.4/578 Reviews
Old property. It is maintained. The rooms are clean. The mattress was too soft for me. I had a backache for 2 days. There is no hot breakfast unless you count waffles & a McMuffin-style sandwich to nuke. There is no pool, outdoor or otherwise. The property is a little hard to find. The price is good unless you're traveling with a dog. The pet fee for this property is ridiculous. One night was enough for me.
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Appleton College Avenue

Our family stayed over night and the staff was so friendly and helpful. It is hard to fi d good help these days, but the crew was so good to us. The hotel is a bit dated but it was so clean and comfortable.
Quality Inn

Last spring, the family went to Appleton to stay at the local La Quinta Hotel. At that time, they made a detailed review and gave a very good evaluation. As a result, this Christmas again went to discover that the price of this hotel has risen, close to the five-star hotel. The price is gone. There was no way to re-do a comprehensive selection. I finally chose the quality hotel diagonally opposite the hotel. I just chose one night's reservation. I thought about staying for a day and then I thought that I found this hotel to be no more than after I checked in. The home was poor, even better. First of all, the front desk staff was very enthusiastic and helped us solve all the concerns. The hotel room was big enough (just the TV was a little small). Secondly, this hotel had a free breakfast and enough kind of food. To meet the needs of the people, the most important thing is that they provide 24-hour hot water, which is very important for us, and the price per night is around 400, which is very cost-effective! Be sure to give praise!
DoubleTree by Hilton Appleton

This is our second year choosing the doubletree for a travel tournament. The customer service is fantastic at the front desk and the bar. My only issue with the hotel is they only have one bank of elevators….so around checkout on a Sunday plan for stairs or waiting. The gym is pretty good but the stability ball is deflated and they had a fan in there last year that’s gone now. But good selection of dumbbells and a working cable machine in addition to cardio. The hotel is also very close to several food options and shopping! I’d definitely return

Super 8 by Wyndham Appleton
3.3/5101 Reviews
Ouch, won't be back. I'm a Wyndham Diamond member, a regular business traveler, and have stayed at many of Wyndham's Appleton-area sites. This one had some serious downsides that keep me from recommending it for either family or business travelers. I encountered staff with really unprofessional, not guest-friendly attitudes. They were reluctant to help with my few requests (a two-hour early check-in for a ten-day stay and an extra roll of toilet paper), acting as if I were making outrageous demands. My room was a standard double-double, and while I had no major issues with it the ancient mini-fridge had broken shelves and its temp couldn't be adjusted (there was a dial, it didn't do anything). The parking lot was horrible. Limited parking, car-swallowing potholes, and a back lot that felt very unsafe for this female traveler. I had to step over/through/around smoking guests and their dogs every time I went in or out the door. The hotel offered ”breakfast,” but wow – a pitiful shared box of cereal and a communal half gallon of milk from a lobby cooler (no, I am not kidding). The service turned me off, the rest convinced me I would do better anywhere else.
