High above the Chalonne river, in what used to be a Cistercian monastery, you will find great, spacy rooms (mind the beams), good beds, easy, safe parking and a generous, friendly host who clearly enjoys what he is doing. Great base camp from which to explore the city of Angoulème and the surrounding countryside (in search for some good cognac, for example).

I booked this property on the bases of allowing pets and have parking as I have had expensive stuff in my car and it had to be parked in a safe place. We arrived at this old stable conversion only to found out there is no parking, in fact there was nothing. Just a not so appealing room with a shower. After spending 15 minutes investigating outside, we didn’t take risk by staying there. It was so disappointing to see how ******* sinking to sub standard with this speed after being no one for a long time.

Très bel endroit où la quiétude est de mise. Chambre confortable et indépendante très appréciable lorsque l’on rentre tard…..dans un très bel ensemble rénové avec goût…Un petit déjeuner avec du thé en feuilles..et non du lipton…..du pain frais des fruits ….un environnement hors du temps …des échanges sympathiques avec le maître des lieux…...tout est réuni pour une halte des plus reposantes..

Magnifique bâtiment à proximité de la Charente. Bon accueil. Magnifique jardin bien entretenu. Chambres spacieuses, confortables et propres. Grande salle de bain. Quelques petits bémols cependant...Wc et salle de bains sans verrou, rez de chaussée ou certaines choses sont négligées (cheminée non vidée dégageant une odeur de cendre humide, toiles d'araignée dans les placards de la cuisine, armoire du salon. Coin barbecue sympathique mais il n'y a pas d'éclairage, cendriers extérieurs non vidés. Des petites choses qui méritent d'être rectifiées.
