We were taking the Glacier Express from Chur to Zermatt but the hotels in Zermatt were very expensive so we looked into Brig to stay the night and visit in the day. This hotel was not only very charming and clean (a plus during the pandemic) it had good internet and cable service. The views were lovely and the overall atmosphere was great. We were greeted downstairs with a delicious breakfast that was local cheeses and meats along with breads, jams and butters, coffee from a Nescafé machine (which was surprisingly good) and some yogurt and overnight oats. The man at the front desk was possible the nicest person we met on our entire vacation and was very considerate in letting us leave out bags in the hotel while we left to Zermatt and came back to get them. Overall recommend this hotel for anyone that comes to it. The only downside to the hotel would be the walk from the station but as long as your willing to walk about 8 minutes through the nice town you’ll be greeted by an amazing hotel!

The second stay, cost-effective, want to save trouble in the hotel downstairs restaurant to eat, after eating, found that the local price is more expensive hotel, two people ate more than 1,000 yuan, but the taste and environment is indeed good.

The hotel is beautiful! The room is also very warm, the countryside is windy, the quilt is very comfortable. The cable car and the small train arrived in the town of Mirren. There are very few skiers in the off-season. It starts to rain in the early morning, and it is especially frozen. Our room was opposite the lift, room 208 but we're fine it as not many human traffic movements heard during our stay. Thanks to the hotel arrangement for the room facing the mountains and it was phenomenal and picturesque. Memorable! One thing to note that the door at the balcony was a bit at the loose end, that you have to push really hard to lock it. It was super chilly in the evening, sometimes the warmer works but sometimes it doesn't, in the event if the temperature outside drop to below -10°, the room will be super cold and you have to rely on the blankets to keep you warm instead. Overall, the room, free WIFI, breakfast and public facilities did meet our expectation. The wellness area on the other hand, is a bit over-crowded in the evening and there were no signs of free towel anywhere. I'd figure out myself that the towels are available in each of the compartment in the wellness area as long as there are no other belongings from guests. There's a small playground right in front of the hotel, had some fun with my kid playing snow and slide.

Stayed at Hotel Stockalperhof for 4 nights as part of the Classic Glacier Express Tour (Great Rail Journeys). The hotel is generally unmanned after you receive your key, with the exception of the breakfast service. Rooms across 5 floors with even numbered rooms benefiting from a small balcony that looks on to the mountains. Coffee (pod) machine provided but only 2 pods and after this you have to pay for your own (Coop is 100m away) so you end up eating and drinking out a lot of the time. The bathroom suffers from the shower head being positioned too low to be of any use, with a hose that is too short in many rooms. This does need looked at by the management. The hotel is very well positioned in Brig with a number of restaurants on the doorstep and only a 350m walk from the train station. I personally would return without a second thought; it is the shower that stops this being a '5' review.

We were hiking from Schynige platte til First, and had clearly underestimated the hike and perhaps overestimated our own ability. When we reached First, the gondola down to Grindelwald was closed (for anyone else, please note that they close it rather early (17:30-18:00-ish) considering how long a hike it is from Schynige Platte, and start as early as possible, since it takes quite some time to even reach Schynige Platte with the mountain train from Wilderswil). We called the hotel, to let them know, that we were coming but it would take some time, as we had to walk down from First on very sore legs. Steffie from the reception (sorry if this is not the correct spelling of your name) was incredible kind, and tried to help us as best as possible, and directed us to the hotel halfway down, where we could try to call for a taxi. We made it to the hotel, and as luck would have it, a taxi pulled in at the same time, as it was driving some people up to the hotel up there. If you should happen to end up in the same situation, try calling a taxi and see if they will go all the way up to First. It should be possible but will of course cost a bit to get them up there. The hike down to the hotel halfway down was quite steep, so hard on the knees. We were delighted to crawl into the taxi and get driven all the way to the hotel door. Here we met Steffie, who kindly offered to open up the spa area just for us, as it had closed before we were able to reach the hotel, and would not open until after we had to check out the next day. We were too tired at that point, and were in stead allowed to go in the spa the next day, despite having checked out at that point. We ordered some food from Steffie and got it sent up to our room, and enjoyed a meal, a nice bath and a comfortable bed. The next day, we enjoyed a very nice breakfast with champagne. Best of all was the employee cooking up omelets on order at the breakfast bar. We checked out. Stored our luggage at the hotel and went for a walk in town, before heading back to the hotel and enjoying the spa after it had opened. Steffie provided us with a key to the spa, and we were then lucky enough to be able to enjoy the spa all to ourselves. Definitely recommend using it when it opens up around noon if you have the opportunity. The infinity pool was just amazing in the sunlight and with the mountains in the background. Absolutely recommend this hotel, and a very big thank you to Steffie for the great service!
