Travelodge Glossop

Doug When we arrived we noticed that the only lift in the hotel was out of order which made it impossible for anyone in a wheelchair or anyone with a mobility disability to reach reception or rooms. This building is an old Mill so the entrance and stairwells are extremely cold, there was cages full of dirty linen sat at the entrance too which wasn’t very welcoming. When we got to reception there was nobody there took a few minutes for someone to come out of the office, asked to check in he asked for our surname and walked back into the office and checked us in from there instead of out front on the reception desk, we were given room 130 and he directed us in the wrong direction but Doug corrected him and told us where to go the guy that checked us in then said “you can tell I don’t work here” unsure if he was being serious or not, he wore a dark patterned shirt, wore a lanyard but no name badge. When we got to the room the cleanliness of the room was disgusting, there was also a few maintenance issues; loads of hair and dark stains on the beds, light switches and bed lights were full of dust, bedside shelf also matted in dust, carpet behind the bed was yet again matted in dust, wardrobe where the spare pillows were was dusty, spotlights in the bathroom did not work so bathroom was extremely dull, the divider between the carpet and bathroom floor was full of dirt there was also a toenail which was extremely noticeable, bed base was badly ripped, wall had been scratched which has actually ripped the paint off and the groove is really quite deep, the back of the curtains were literally black full of dirt (hand prints, stains etc) headboard light coved was badly snapped in half, picture above bed was matted in dust, window did not open at all, the peep hole cover on the door was broken, floor in the bathroom was easily ripped up no sealant around the edge to hold it down..would also cause water to go under the floor and rot the wood underneath and stains on the shower curtain. It was absolutely filthy never seen a Travelodge like it! We then left the room went to reception to complain, Doug changed us room but unfortunately never gave us a chance to fully tell him what was wrong with the room stopped us mid conversation, we then got moved to 117 which he said was cleaned by himself, when we got to that room the hand towel had a very noticeable brown stain on it we took this back to reception and got a clean one, there was also a dirty used towel hanging on the back of the bathroom door. The windowsill was covered in dirt, dust hanging from the ceiling, and again the floor was not sealed down in the bathroom. The only thing that I like about this hotel is the view of the hills from the room. Overall very disappointed and disgusted with this hotel would not stay here again or recommend to anyone.

Everything was spot on, Just the one night this time but everything was extremely good: Just a little bit of noise from the local stores getting stock deliveries, but other than that, perfick!! Oh, and the staff were the usual, very very helpful! Thx Glossop, we'll be back! 😉

Lots of noise from the pub close by, very tired decor and a bathroom that smelt very strongly of urine. Disappointed.

Stayed here for a night whilst working in the area. The room was clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and polite. Sadly the elevators were not working when i stayed. There was ample parking in the carpark. I would stay here again.

Lovely welcome from the receptionist, Douglas, who was great at explaining where to go for dinner and shopping. He also pre-warned us that Weatherspoons was likely to be full. The room itself was very spacious for an accessible room and was only a short distance from the lift and staircase. The bathroom was very adequate wet room set up, and the location was lovely with a view of the not so 'babbling' brook. In the morning there was no pressure to leave as check out wasn't until 12pm and the lady on reception was very pleasant and friendly when we checked out just after 11am.

Very clean and comfortable room have used before and will definitely stay here again very professional staff on reception making for very easy swift check in Weatherspoons and other restaurants within an easy walk of the hotel.

Lift packed up 10 mins into stay, 6 days later on a return visit still no lift. No reception staff until 14.55pm, then no reception staff until 24hrs later, just a sign on the counter with a ring this number. I could go on ....No other hotels in Glossop and the lack of competition is very evident

Most staff are lovely but there ones I faced on checkout who I hadn't seen before were totally uncaring and unhelpful. The lift was broken I am disabled and was relying on being able to leave my bags somewhere with the staff to be able to go and get breakfast because I am diabetic. They were not willing to take a suitcase anywhere and I had to stand and wait and drag all my bags by myself to reception where the lift which had been broken for the whole stay was still inoperative. I asked and suggested multiple solutions to the problem all were rejected and none were suggested by them as an alternative. They did that "nooo sorryyyy" thing that says "get out of my face I want to go sit down" and at night I couldnt go out because the keycard reader outside was also broken

Very happy with my visit. Staff very helpful with amending my booking after initially wanting to stay for one day. Extended my stay and everyone was polite and friendly. Will come again. Clean and tidy room, nice atmosphere and a restful stay.
