Hotels near The Historic Harris House, Glendale

Attended a concert at the Hollywood Bowl. Parked at the L.A Zoo which is close to the Glendale. Hotel. Booked the room based on the good reviews i had read. We were very impressed. The gentleman at the front desk was friendly and helpful. (Wish i remember his name) our Queen room had a Jacuzzi tub. Parking was easy and safe, bed was comfy and room was very clean. Will stay there again when attending the bowl.

The hotel is located in town near Americana Mall. Lobby is big . The room size is ok. The mattress and pillows are very comfortable.

A very safe and pleasant hotel to be in. It has a cute balcony at the end of the room. Very spacious room n even beautiful washroom. I love the cleanliness n friendliness of the staff. Being a solo traveller I feel very safe and happy to be here! Lovely reception halloween decor!

Be sure you know exactly what you’re booking before accepting, and I mean every detail. We booked directly with the owner and the cancellation policy is not generous. This is a B&B situation in an old house perched high on a very steep hill. There are a lot of rules you must follow. You must park cheek to jowl with the other cars. You must enter the house number and not follow Google maps. You must remove your shoes inside the home. You must not roll your luggage across the tile floor. You must not go around the steep side of the property, as someone had wandered and gotten hurt. If you book the rose bowl hideaway room or Rt. 66 room, you must share a Jack-and-Jill bathroom that creates a very awkward situation when the other room is occupied, as was our case. We could not leave our towels or toiletries in the bathroom. We heard every sound from the other occupant throughout the night and were locked out in the morning when he forgot to unlock our side. Over the course of our first night, I had an asthmic allergic reaction to our room and the inside of the property; after a fitful night, I awoke with labored breathing and puffy, watery eyes. The home is filled with antiques and there is an accompanying distinct odor throughout the home (incense? mustiness? cooking? Not sure.). When we informed the owner of our need to leave, he took afront at my health issue and cavalierly suggested I take a Benadryl. He served a continental breakfast but I didn’t enjoy it because I needed to remove myself from the area as soon as possible to regulate my breathing. We also passed by another guest lounging on the couch with his coffee, still in his pajamas (no robe). Ick. While the owner was absolutely within his rights not to offer us a refund according to the 30+-day-out cancellation policy, he demonstrated a surprising lack of sympathy. Despite telling us he would try to rebook our room (did he, really?), he had no interest in refunding us the cost of the following three nights that we had paid for. Because we booked directly through him (something he offered as a way to save us money by not going through a booking service but now I see left us with no recourse or protection), we forfeited over $700 and had to scramble to find suitable lodging for the next night. As a result, we ended our trip early. This experience left a sour taste in our mouths and was not like any of the warm B&B experiences we have enjoyed throughout Europe and the U.S. Also, despite the name, the house is nowhere near Hollywood or Universal—the name seems chosen to lure those unfamiliar the area. Lodgers beware.

It took me a long time to choose this hotel. I am very satisfied with the hotel. It is clean and hygienic. The staff is willing to help us. The breakfast is great. There are porridge and Western style. There is no need to worry about the Chinese stomach. There are also cup noodles for you to eat. I stayed here for 7 days. If you come to LA again, this is your first choice.

It’s very close to Universal Studios Hollywood. Walkable distance, 8 mins walk. There is shuttle bus provided but we prefer walking. The room is spacious and clean. The stuffs are friendly and helpful. Great stay.

Could easily be zero stars. Original room was 93 degrees upon check in, the air conditioning unit was poor by anyone's standard, we asked to switch rooms. They did not offer to come get our bags, or move us to a new room so we brought our luggage back down to the front desk. We were then given a second room. Again, no offer made to accompany us and see if the new room was up to standards. This room was 92 degrees upon entry. After a second phone call, they sent up staff to change the filters on the AC unit. That team told us the AC was functioning well and blowing cold air (it was blowing cold air as if you had a few ice cubes in your mouth and blew on my neck) and to use the blackout curtains (after a sort of condescending explanation of what blackout curtains do) and give it some time for the AC to work. We went out to dinner for about two hours and came back to a nice cool 87 degree room. We once again took our belongings back downstairs. We were then told by the front desk staff that since we booked a room with a king size bed all of those rooms faced the sun and would all have similar problems (why would that be an acceptable answer?) and they could do nothing more for us since they accommodated us once already. I had no idea their idea of accommodating someone was to put them in a room with the same problem that the previous room had but what do I know, I am not in the hospitality industry. We were then told that the hotel was completely booked so no further ”accommodations” could be made. We asked for a refund and this is the first time they reacted with some conviction, they were happy to let us leave. Must be nice to be able to turn away business. At no time were there any apologies, any remorse, just matter-of-factly let us leave. My wife and I don't argue or yell, we never feel its worth it, but we left angry and hotel-less on a Saturday night in Los Angeles. We scrambled to find a new hotel but the damage was done, they took our entire Saturday away from us, which no refund could ever compensate for, they temporarily took our joy to be in town on our own as we are parents and do not get much time away. We did take our business elsewhere, to a Hilton, they seem to understand that to relax you need a room that is slightly cooler than a sauna. We were able to salvage the remaining days of our trip. Also the elevators at the Freehand are old (charming?) and constantly in use because of the rooftop bar so it took us waiting for a few packed elevators to get up and down to the hot AF rooms which probably added to our level of frustration. But it was mostly the Sahara like environment of the hot room. Did I mention the rooms were hot? Also maybe use a free hand to open a book on what hospitality looks like, I think your staff may be surprised. (see what I did there?)

My fiancé and I stayed at the Mondrian LA for 5 days at the end of July. We had a rough start to the trip, our luggage got lost (thanks to air Canada) and our reservation was lost once we got to the hotel. Marie Verdugo was patient, caring and extremely helpful and didn't give up on us. Our reservation was then found and from that point on the hotel was very generous and giving, we can't thank Marie and the whole staff enough! We will for sure be back!

Fabulous place on Sunset Boulevard. Easy walk to Rainbow, Whiskey a Go Go, and Viper Room. 40 min walk to Hollywood walk of fame. 30 min walk to Beverly centre. Great spacious eclectic rooms. Bands or duos on at night Heated pool. Lovely staff. Special thanks to Nick who was always so friendly and helpful.

Very clean hotel with very spacious lobby and rooms. Great reception with kindness. Parking was convenient with a fee. Many restaurants around the area.
