This is my mother and I's favorite spot. This place is the most peaceful and beautiful place to be, with nothing but nature and trees surrounding you and tons of animals you can pet and feed. I've become best friends with the animals there! You can stay in cottages or houses like the carriage, saddle, or prairie houses where you are right on the farm where the animals are, and you can go up to them whenever you want. There are two horses, the dark brown one is named Tomcat, and the white one is named Gracie. The donkey is named Bradley, and he is hilarious when he makes noises. You could also stay in the woods in a cabin, Santa Fe railroad car, or the RV's, all of which are cozy and have their own space in the woods which is hidden, and you can still walk over to the animals. Breakfast in the barn is made by this really kind lady named Wendy on Saturday. This is a place that is very family-oriented and has many activities that you can do with the family and kids if you have 'em, but it's also perfect if you want to go by yourself or with a partner/friend! You can walk along the river walk, which is so pretty and relaxing, and go in the woods and walk around; you can also walk to the square where many stores and boutiques are. We've considered February (during a colder month) and April or springtime are the best times to go. We found it more enjoyable during those times, and the fall is pretty, too, there will be some fall foliage in the late fall. P.S. If you go, bring a lot of carrots! The horses, donkeys, goats, and bunnies all love them, and they get eaten quickly!! I highly recommend this place to stay and to check out the local restaurants and cafes like Riverhouse Grill and Storiebook Cafe. This place is by far the most heavenly place to be when you need a break from reality and life and to enjoy nature.
