Absent owners, unstaffed on arrival. No breakfast at a B&B even if I paid the extra 20 a person. Outdated shabby room, bed and bedding were terrible.

While visiting family in Glastonbury this past week, my husband and I enjoyed a delightful one night stay at The Connecticut River Valley Inn. Hosts Pat and Wayne Brubaker were very warm and hospitable, the room with fireplace and outdoor balcony area was lovely, and breakfast was delicious. Many thanks Pat and Wayne. We will surely be back on our next pass through Glastonbury. Victoria B.

I surprised my wife for our anniversary and was so happy I did. The Inn was just beautiful, adorned with beautiful finishes and artwork created by the owner Pat. She was gracious and kind as was her husband Wayne…such nice people!! The grounds were manicured and inviting…makes you want to stay forever! Thank you Pat and Wayne for all of your hard work and dedication to making the Connecticut River Valley Inn such a beautiful experience.

My husband and I are canoeists, and chose this inn because it is so easy to access from the river! But it is a lovely place! The main house is unusually classy and well appointed, as was our room. The grounds are beautifully laid out and maintained, and the patio is spacious and relaxing. The cherry trees were in full bloom while we were there, and are lovely!!

Traveling for work last minute, we came across the Connecticut River Valley Inn. It was beautiful in the photos and reviews said it could prepare gluten free breakfast. We paid the above average, for the area price because of this. I review gluten free friendly inns and accommodations for a publication. We had a glitch and emailed to see if we could stay a different night. We never heard back from that email. Unwilling to loose $450 for one nights stay, we managed to arrive by 10pm The host texted clear entry instructions the day of check in at 3pm . I promptly replied asking what time we should be down for breakfast. I got no response. I searched all over website and booking emails, but breakfast time for this bed and breakfast was posted nowhere. I was wanting to know when to get out of bed because we had spent the entire day traveling and wanted to wake at the correct time. At 935 the next morning, when i looked at my phone, after getting in late the night before, I had 3 texts. One after 8am saying breakfast was at 9am and two others saying breakfast was over at 9:30 and we missed it, but a gf pastry and juice was left out for us. We were told to grab coffee in dining room but we couldn't get the machine to work. The innkeeper graciously refunded us $25, reducing our price from $450 to 425 for the nights stay. Besides refunding us, the innkeeper made no apologies but blamed us for checking in late and not looking at the text after 8am for 9-930 breakfast window. We loved our sleep and the room was beautiful with a great shower, but the 30 minute breakfast window with nothing posted and the lack of response to our emergency email, which forced us to stay for 12 hours at the inn for $450-reflected very poor communication. The innkeeper said she was offsite and couldn't do more for us, but when we left at 10am she was back at the inn again and could've made us some eggs, at the very least. We ended up spending $45 in town for breakfast. We loved the Inn and wanted to make it a work stop upon arrival. We were very sad at the end result and mostly because we wouldn't be able to return.

Had a wonderful time at this Inn for 7 days. So beautiful. All the details….it was inspiring, almost what I’d call romantic. They were friendly. They made our stay comfortable and helpful when we couldn’t figure our the tv. Could have coffee in the room but felt comfortable going into dining room and sitting to read their books. It was a convenient location for local walking distance but also to most of New England. Highly recommend it. There was a wedding going on one of the days and it was such good energy. Didn’t feel like intruders. Had plenty of spaces to be by ourselves. You can’t see the water but you can walk back to the trail to see Connecticut River.

What a great birthday weekend I enjoyed! My friends and I felt welcome to enjoy the common areas of The Connecticut River Valley Inn, it's a gorgeous property! Thank you Pat and Wayne! I stayed in the Winter Room which had such a comfortable bed and the pillows were perfect, something I find is a hit or miss when staying away from home. My room was very quiet and I enjoyed having the church view from my room's windows. Also, I love that our rooms had Keurig personal coffee makers in our own rooms! It was so nice not to have to run up and down the stairs to the dining room for a hot drink. I was a bit concerned about the issue of communication that previous reviewers cautioned about and to be honest, I did not share their experience. We were provided with very clear instructions on everything regarding the inn. When I did have questions, Pat was very easy to locate on the property via phone call or text. I will be coming back! We had an amazing time :)

Such an amazing one night stay at this bed & breakfast. It was our first time staying in a place like this and we loved how charming it was. The entire experience was so easy. I booked and paid online. When driving up I received check in instructions. There are tons of nearby restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. We didn’t need our cars at all. We will def be back and for longer than one night next time! Thank you Pat & Wayne for great accommodations!
