Traveling for work last minute, we came across the Connecticut River Valley Inn. It was beautiful in the photos and reviews said it could prepare gluten free breakfast. We paid the above average, for the area price because of this. I review gluten free friendly inns and accommodations for a publication. We had a glitch and emailed to see if we could stay a different night. We never heard back from that email. Unwilling to loose $450 for one nights stay, we managed to arrive by 10pm The host texted clear entry instructions the day of check in at 3pm . I promptly replied asking what time we should be down for breakfast. I got no response. I searched all over website and booking emails, but breakfast time for this bed and breakfast was posted nowhere. I was wanting to know when to get out of bed because we had spent the entire day traveling and wanted to wake at the correct time. At 935 the next morning, when i looked at my phone, after getting in late the night before, I had 3 texts. One after 8am saying breakfast was at 9am and two others saying breakfast was over at 9:30 and we missed it, but a gf pastry and juice was left out for us. We were told to grab coffee in dining room but we couldn't get the machine to work. The innkeeper graciously refunded us $25, reducing our price from $450 to 425 for the nights stay. Besides refunding us, the innkeeper made no apologies but blamed us for checking in late and not looking at the text after 8am for 9-930 breakfast window. We loved our sleep and the room was beautiful with a great shower, but the 30 minute breakfast window with nothing posted and the lack of response to our emergency email, which forced us to stay for 12 hours at the inn for $450-reflected very poor communication. The innkeeper said she was offsite and couldn't do more for us, but when we left at 10am she was back at the inn again and could've made us some eggs, at the very least. We ended up spending $45 in town for breakfast. We loved the Inn and wanted to make it a work stop upon arrival. We were very sad at the end result and mostly because we wouldn't be able to return.
