Every time I come to Penang for a business trip, my company almost always arranges for me to stay at this hotel 🏨. I've stayed here several times, and its biggest advantage is its convenient location. There are many great food options nearby, and you can find plenty of eateries within walking distance. While the service isn't particularly outstanding, the overall stay is comfortable, making it highly recommended for business travelers. 😊

I had a pleasant stay at Summer Tree Hotel Penang. The hotel is clean, comfortable, and offers great value for money. The room was spacious, well maintained, and the bed was comfortable, making it a relaxing place to rest after exploring Penang. The location is convenient, with plenty of local eateries, cafés, and popular attractions within a short drive or walking distance. The staff were friendly, helpful, and check-in/check-out was smooth. One thing to note is that the walls are a little thin, so you may occasionally hear noise from neighboring rooms or the hallway. Parking can also be limited during busy periods. Overall, it’s a great choice for travelers looking for an affordable, clean, and conveniently located hotel in George Town. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next trip to Penang.

The hotel’s location is excellent, with plenty of good food options and tourist attractions nearby. It was very convenient for exploring the area. However, the stay was affected by several issues. The soundproofing was poor, and early each morning, cleaners would talk loudly outside the room for extended periods, making it difficult to rest. On both nights of my stay, there were also very loud machine or equipment noises after 9 PM that were disruptive. Cleanliness could be improved as well. There was hair left in the toilet upon arrival, which gave an unpleasant first impression. In addition, the shower water pressure was quite weak, making it less comfortable to use. While the location is a major advantage, the noise disturbances, cleanliness issues, and weak water pressure negatively impacted the overall experience.

Hotel is so near to many restaurants and famous spots to visit. Easy to go. There is paid laundry and dry service for backpacking. Quite clean and quiet.

This hotel is an excellent introduction to Penang as it was for me on my first day in town exploring and getting to know the main city area. Close to downtown center the hotel provides an ideal location for explorers who want to be close to all the major sites Penang has to offer. In the immediate area is George Town with venues including the Clan Jetties, UNESCO heritage sites, Armenian Street and a vast array of street art all worth stopping to visit. The hotel itself is clean and tidy with helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to help accommodate me upon my early arrival (holding my luggage until check in time). The room was comfortable and for amenities there was an onsite laundry room that helped ensured traveler like me had the opportunity to refresh their baggage for the next adventures ahead. As a heads up to future travelers: the hotel is located near some stunning mosques that although were great to visit, do have prayer sessions throughout the day and night which all hotel travelers can clearly hear in their rooms. Not recommended for light sleepers or anyone who minds the sound. Overall the hotel was a great place to start my Penang stay and exploration.

The Natsu Hotel is surrounded by food stalls and a night market. I found some hygiene issues in my room, but the front desk was quick to send someone to take care of it, so the service was decent. When booking this hotel, I noticed that the tax inclusions varied across different platforms – some included all taxes, while others only included a partial amount. If taxes aren't fully included, you'll have to pay an additional service charge at the front desk, which they explained is a local regulation.

We stayed two nights at Summer Tree Hotel Penang during our trip to Penang. One of the main reasons I chose this hotel was its location — right in the heart of Georgetown near Komtar, which makes it very convenient for getting around. It also offers parking, which is a big plus in this area. Another reason was the late check-in option, as I was having dinner with a friend in Nibong Tebal, which is quite a distance away. The pricing was also reasonable, making it an attractive choice overall. Upon arrival, however, parking was already full. I had to park at a space right in front of the hotel where delivery trucks usually arrive in the morning. This made me slightly anxious, as I was worried I might be asked to move my car early the next day. The lobby is simple but modern, with a creative, slightly hipster and artistic vibe — almost like a small modern art space. There are vending machines offering snacks, drinks, and essentials for travelers. At the back, there are toilets and also a laundry area with washing machines. A small coffee corner and even an old-school arcade game machine add a nice nostalgic touch, which was a pleasant surprise. However, the room itself was quite disappointing. While the room is basic and small — which I don’t mind — the flooring under the carpet felt severely damaged. Walking on it felt uneven and almost “soft,” as if the ground beneath had deteriorated. It gave a very uncomfortable and unsettling feeling, possibly due to moisture or termite damage underneath. Another concern was the bathroom design. There is an elevated step at the entrance, which becomes a clear trip hazard. I actually tripped once when entering. Even after that, I had to be very cautious because the floor just outside the bathroom is extremely slippery. Every entry and exit required full attention. There is also no proper shelf or platform inside the shower area to place shampoo or shower gel. We had to repeatedly open and close the glass door just to access toiletries during showering, which was inconvenient. Only basic amenities like shower gel and liquid hand soap were provided. The room was also advertised with a decent view, but the window was covered with a mesh, and since we were on the first floor, there was very little to see. On the positive side, the water dispenser outside the room was very convenient. The next day, parking was still full, so we had to park at a private area nearby. Since it was raining, the walk back to the hotel was quite inconvenient as well. Overall, while the location and concept of the hotel are strong, the room condition and safety design issues need serious attention. I would strongly recommend replacing the carpet flooring with vinyl wood flooring for durability and hygiene. As for the bathroom layout, improvements may be limited due to structure, but safety enhancements like anti-slip flooring would make a big difference.

The service was great, very friendly, and the hotel itself was pretty good with excellent value for money. They also have private parking (though spaces are limited), and the hygiene was perfectly fine. 🥰

This is my second time staying at this hotel, and it continues to deliver a consistently comfortable experience. The room is clean, well-maintained, and designed in a simple, functional style that feels similar to an ibis concept practical and easy to settle into. The highlight is definitely the bed. It’s soft and very comfortable, and even the single beds are generously sized. The bedsheets feel like cotton, and the hotel provides two types of pillows ,one soft and one medium-firm ,which makes it easy to get good sleep. The bathroom is clean with proper dry and wet separation, and having a fridge in the room is a nice added convenience. Location is another strong point. Within just a 1-minute walk, there are plenty of food options, from open-air local stalls to air-conditioned restaurants. Despite that, the area remains quiet at night, which I really appreciate. The fact that I chose to come back says a lot. Overall, great value for money and I would definitely stay here again
