Large chalet/hotel, quite new, purpose-built. (Not old and shabby with paper-thin walls like many chalets.) Rooms are not huge or luxurious but they are big enough, and well designed functionally. The place is well managed with good food and mostly good service. We were impressed when we arrived at 9pm and got a full dinner, not just a leftover sandwich, for the planeload of us from the evening Gatwick to Friedrichshafen flight. Dinner was good but breakfast was even better – actual proper bacon etc. (Unlike some chalets where ‘cooked breakfast’ means a small pancake on request.) The afternoon soup was also very nice after skiing. The only problem was from a few customers – probably not staff – who spent the night shouting and swearing drunkenly at each other outside till 3 a.m. Inghams need to make up their mind whether they will unofficially tolerate this, and attract that kind of customer, or discourage it more effectively in order to keep the chalet attractive to the rest of us who prefer not to be woken up by drunks shouting outside the window. It would also be in Inghams’ commercial interest not to annoy the local Austrian folk in quiet villages like St Christoph. The Inghams ski brochure marks St Christoph as much better for beginners than St Anton. This is sort of true – there a couple of button lifts for the blue/green local slope – but once you’ve done that, you are effectively skiing in the wider St Anton area. The one route from the top of chairlifts down to St Chris is blue but heavily used and a bit tricky for relative beginners. The other blues towards St Anton or Zurs are even trickier. Of course that’s no problem for people who ski reds. For people on the late return flight: Inghams give you the hard sell on the coach to buy your ski pass through them. But they only have 6 day passes. Do not believe any story you get told about buying their 6 day pass and changing it later for a 7 day. It’s trouble and expense and Inghams can’t/won’t do it for you, once you’ve given in and bought the 6 day. To be fair, the chalet management were fine about us skiing on the last Saturday. There’s an ATM up the road in St Chris, but if you want one that doesn’t charge you to get at your cash, go to the Sparkasse ATM in St Anton.

We are a group of 12, who are just about to leave this wonderful hotel. The accommodation is excellent with spa facilities and everything you needing to cater for your skiing equipment and aching muscles after a day on the slopes. The staff are friendly and very attentive. The dining experience was gastronomical with delicious food every evening, something for everyone as I am a fussy eater. The bar area had a great atmosphere with piano music every night. The location to the lifts is a 4 mins walk and if needed the ski schule is just up the road. Thanks for such a good time!

Excellent hotel in St Anton. We stayed here for 4 nights and very much enjoyed our time. The room and bathroom were spacious, warm and nicely decorated, nothing stand out but exactly as you would expect. The location is good, located 10 mins from the two largest lifts sim St Anton. The facilities were good, the small swimming pool is a nice after a long skiing day along with the sauna (no jacuzzi unfortunately). There is a ski storage room but as the hotel provides complimentary storage at the lift, no one uses the in house one. The breakfast spread is excellent. Pastries, bacon sausage and eggs, a decent coffee machine, great selection of cut fruit, meats and juices. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially when we asked about restaurants.

We booked our stay in Hotel Gabl as a large group (19) and this where the first of the pleasantries began. I was in touch with Caroline from the Alpeffect offices via email and she helped with every detail of our booking and couldn't have been more helpful. On arrival both receptionists were super friendly and helped us all get checked in and answered all our questions. The rooms were ideal for our needs. We had 3 family rooms with each containing two bedrooms and 3 single rooms with one these having the optional 3rd bed. The beds were very comfortable and there was enough closet space for all our ski gear and clothes. The shower and toilet had separate rooms which I thought was a clever idea. Breakfast was a typical continental style buffet. It had a little bit of everything to suit everyone's needs. Dinner also began with a salat buffet. Once everyone was seated one of the excellent waiters would explain the evening's menu and would efficiently and politely take our orders. There was always options for those in our group that were vegetarian/pescetarian and the food was always delicious! To use the sauna you just needed to ask a member of staff to turn it on a few minutes beforehand and they would always kindly oblige. The sauna could fit maybe 8/9 at a push but was comfortable with about 4/5 people inside. It was the perfect way to recover from a tough day skiing. The hotel didn't have a boot room but had a deal with the ski rental next door to use their storage free of charge which was just as handy. All in all, we couldn't have asked for anything more! Great value, great location and the absolute best staff and service!!!
