Visited Gateway Canyons Resort with my best friend for a girls day and massages. We received an email asking if we wanted to upgrade the room and said what the heck. We were actually lucky enough to get an extra upgrade to their casitas. It was clean, spacious, and very nicely decorated. First complaint is the lack of information about what is going on at the resort. Our massage therapist was amazing but the spa facilities are under construction so there’s not much there. Also, when checking in I asked where the spa was and the receptionist shrugged and couldn’t tell me where it was. We were told the pool wasn’t open for the season even though there were people swimming in it? The outdoor shower was winterized. Only one of the three restaurants, the casual Paradox Grille was open. None of this is trip ruining but it would be nice to know with how expensive it is. We went to the Paradox Grille for dinner and were told it would be a 30 minute wait but we could sit at the bar. Until we realized that people who were walking in after us were being sat and served. In their own words they apologized for “forgetting us”. Dinner was good but pricy. We went back to use our fire pit only to find out it didn’t work. I went to use the phone in the room to call the front desk and it was broken as well so I tried to call from my phone twice and got no answer. At this point we were ready to head out in the morning until about 4 am when the food poisoning hit. I really wish I was joking or exaggerating but we hadn’t been around each other until we got to the resort and both only had one glass of wine then we both got violently sick about 8 hours after eating at the Paradox Grille. Save your money and your stomach.
