Poiano Garda Resort Hotel

This resort is about 3k from Garda waterfront but there is a free, small and very popular shuttle bus (see photo for times). If you don’t get on the bus the driver will come back for you. The bus takes you to Garda bus station where you can get plenty buses up and down the eastern lake resorts, theme parks and to Verona. Also to pesceria train station where we took a train to Milan. The apartments are really basic and in need of an upgrade but they’re fine. If you’re on a budget and plan to eat in more than out you should know the ‘kitchens’ are tiny and there is nowhere other than the table to prep food and no oven other than a microwave. Not all the plug points are the same. We took 3 uk to eu adapters and 1 uk to Switzerland/Italy and managed. The WiFi is great. The resort is pretty spectacular though and the Olympic sized pool is it’s biggest asset. If you have older kids who want to swim (rather than wee kids who want to splash about in a lagoon pool) then this is the resort for you. The pool staff run daily waterpolo at 3pm which my kids (and husband) loved. I think I’ve heard aqua aerobics in the mornings but gave it a miss! The pool bar serves food til 4 and it’s shaded. We arrived at wildly varying times and never didn’t get a poolside sunbed. The resort staff are very helpful and most of them speak /understand English and my very poor attempts at Italian. The bar does nightly entertainment and the house wine is lovely and only €2.50 per glass, great for a wee nightcap after a day of exploring. To buy anything in the resort you just give your room or apartment number and sign the receipt. I’m actually dreading paying the bill this evening! The exception is the wee shop which opens 8 til 10 am and only accepts cash. Poiano is a great base both for exploring Lake Garda and for lazy pool days but it’s hilly location and basic apartments won’t be for everyone.

The weekend of the end of June of the son and his girlfriend was ruined by the notice of unauthorized entry into ZTL. ingress that was indicated by the Hotel Directorate to the staying for the discharge of baggage ('passed calms'). After 2 months and a half on September 10, it is verbally notified by Euro 76 that becomes Euro 101 if you pay it after 5 gg. I called the Municipal Police Command to explain the incident ... providing evidence of confirmation of the stay booking ... Because the email sent to the hotel by me has not been followed up. The Command explained that it is the Hoteller who sends the traveller's vehicles plate to justify entry to ZTL...ma reading other reviews I find that the ”communication defect” of the Hotel Directorate is repeated : The hotel is a very bad place to make a pleasure. allows ...expenditure that the non-communication hotel is required to pay to the Municipal Police. You can always choose where to stay in Garda!
