Quinta Jardins do Lago

As a world traveller, I love to share with fellow travellers photos of my adventures. But in this instance, I am compelled to also share my hotel stay at Quinta Jardins do Lago, which was exemplary. The accommodations were lovely: sumptuous interior design replete with tastefully appointed furniture and artwork, overlooking beautiful gardens; all rooms had balconies to enjoy this spectacular view. And the comfort of the kingsize bed was divine. Even my three year old granddaughter slept like a log in the crib they provided! You're surrounded by elegant botanic gardens, varied, lush and aesthetically designed, with identifiers of most plants. The gardens are also home to a sixty-six year old tortoise named Colombo, from the Galapagos Islands, who brought endless fun and wonder to everyone. The dining experience added another superb dimension to the enjoyment of this fabulous hotel, from the delicious breakfast, buffet and "to order," to the sumptuous dinners, prepared by talented chefs. Not only is all the bread baked on premises, including morning croissants and multi-cereal rolls, but even the ice-cream is artisanally crafted at the hotel. The menu was tastefully varied, complemented with an intriguing wine list. And finally, the staff couldn't have been more welcoming: so friendly, helpful, and engaging. I heartfully thank you for making my stay at your beautiful hotel so comfortable, enjoyable, exceptional and memorable.

A true 5* experience. This hotel is quite possibly the nicest I've had the pleasure of staying at. The service is impeccable, the hotel immaculate, and the gardens simply beautiful. My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding and it couldn't have been more perfect. I highly recommend this hidden gem if you're looking for a luxury getaway! Special mention to the resident tortoise Columbo who made our stay all the more memorable. We will be back!

Don’t really know where to start, I have been lucky enough to stay in some fabulous hotels (and some awful ones!) but this is the best I’ve ever stayed in Location is 10/10 an old school hotel with modern touches like USB ports in rooms, English channels on the TV and immaculately clean everywhere and I mean everywhere. This hotel is an oasis of peace and tranquility with breathtaking gardens. The pool is lovely, with good food and drink and thankfully no music. The restaurant is a must with exceptional food and service and talking of service this is where this hotel really is like nowhere I have ever stayed. THE STAFF. Outstanding, polite, happy and very obviously very well trained and motivated, I hope they are well paid as they really deserve it. Nothing is too much trouble, they really make the point from the moment you arrive that you are on holiday and they are there for you, never experienced service line it before We will be back again as not only is the hotel superb but Madeira and it’s inhabitants are lovely too

Beautiful hotel, very clean, and staff clearly take pride in working there. Every person I met was kind and helpful. We let them know ahead of time that our flight was landing late and they arranged for a cab to pick us up at the airport and even set out a dinner for us in our room. We were starving and could’ve been more appreciative of this thoughtful gesture. The gardens are absolutely beautiful. The pool was very clean. And of course we loved Colombo! Breakfast was delicious, we regretted not having dinner there one night. I would 100% recommend staying here.

This was our 9th visit, and the friendliness ,the comfort, the wonderful location, the food and finally the superb Staff have not changed. Everything is of the highest standard. We are widely travelled people, and Jardins Do Lago is in our top 10 hotels.

Finest five star hotel on Madeira. Fabulous location within a tropical garden. Excellent food, wonderful, friendly staff, comfortable and well equipped rooms and suites. Meals are an absolute delight. Our second visit, we will, hopefully return.

A wonderful, luxurious hotel. The room was comfortable and the food scrumptious, you can even have Champagne for breakfast! The staff are efficient and friendly. We went on excursions and the concierge was happy to book for us. There is a shuttle bus for town. The gardens are beautiful. I swam for the first time in 35 years in the swimming pool, which although large, only came up to my shoulders at the deepest point. Then I enjoyed laying on a sunbed with a call button for for service, food, cocktails etc. If you go to Maderia stay here.

Absolutely stunning place - the feel of a family home with the service of an elite hotel all with incredibly kind, friendly and professional staff. I have rarely enjoyed a hotel more. It's no wonder they have clients who return year after year. The gardens are exquisite

An outstanding hotel set in beautiful botanical gardens. From the minute we arrived we were cocooned by the wonderful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them and they seemed to anticipate our every need. Each and everyone of them knew our names and were always warm and friendly. The views from both bedrooms we stayed in were magnificent, with gardens, sea and hills. The rooms were beautifully furnished, always displaying fresh bird of paradise flowers. Quiet and relaxing by the pool, there was no need to move from the comfortable sunbeds as we were provided with a push button to call the poolside bar for drinks and food. There was also a poolside library with a good selection of up to date books. There were many other places in the gardens where chairs and sunloungers had been thoughfully positioned for relaxation. All dietry needs are catered for in the exceptional restaurant, with outside dining and live music 2 nights a week. The star attraction is Colombo the Galapagos tortoise, 66 years young who lazed around in his beautiful garden, always available for conversations, cuddles and photos! A fantastic stay at a most elegant boutique hotel. Very highly recommended and we can fully understand why the guests we spoke to return year after year.
