Stayed here First week in Feb. Travelled with Jet2 & paid a very reasonable price for the week on a bed & breakfast basis. Beforehand, I emailed the hotel about having a kettle in the room & was immediately replied to by Luis, who told me they would upgrade me to a room with a small kitchen. (Thank You Luis) The hotel is starting to show it's age but it was clean, in good repair & everyone was friendly. The rooms are large & have a shower over the bath. There was A/C , a safe (extra charge) & a modern TV. We had nice views from the balcony of the pool area & the gardens. The breakfast was basic & had a hot choice of bacon, eggs, beans etc.. as well as breads, fruit, yoghurts, meats, cheeses, cereals & porridge. Tea & coffee & fruit juice was self service. With such a choice, there is always something for everyone (although I am sure some people will find something to complain about.). The bar was quiet but had music on a few nights. They have a happy hour between 18.30 & 19.30 where there is a range of drinks on sale at half price. I found all the staff to be friendly & willing to help. There is an outdoor pool area with a coffee shop /bar at the side of it - although this is a bit pricey. There is a very nice heated indoor pool, steam room & hot tub but while the covid restrictions apply, only the indoor pool. is open. Jet2 list this as a 3 star hotel & this is a fair assessment. It is a clean friendly, value for money hotel with good facilities.
Dorisol Mimosa Studio Hotel

Myself and husband along with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson aged 1.5 years had an amazing holiday. The experience from landing in Funchal, transfer to hotel and the most welcoming experience on arriving at Dorisol Mimosa was first class. Yes, some of the external paint work can do with some attention but that is the only issue. The welcome at the main reception was lovely with plenty of information. Rooms are spacious and bright, also cleaned daily. We were b&b which was plentiful and well stocked, kitchen assistant were very pleasant and helpful. The pool area was exceptional clean and relaxed with plenty of sunbed and a small deck area. The facilities such as indoor pool, gym and tennis court are well-maintained. The terrace bar and restaurant was outstanding,.this includes service and amazing food. The most spectacular views from the rooftop bar is breathtaking and we sat and relaxing every evening. Madeira is very hilly and not for folk who have difficulty walking but a stunning island that is self sufficient offering many local produce. Local restaurants are welcoming and give no hassle. The front seafront area is like paradise which we visited daily. Definitely will return to funchal.and Dorisol Mimosa

Overall great stay and we'll likely be back next time we visit Madeira. Great location close to lots of restaurants and bars, and bus stops. It's not too far to walk to the city center and there's lots to see on the way there, too. The rooms were clean, shampoo etc. was provided and there were even extra blankets which we were very grateful for as it can be chilly at night. What we did not enjoy that much was the breakfast, as both restaurants serve about the same food and it was the same every morning. The taste was ok but we probably won't add breakfast the next time we stay, or not for all days. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful, however, the hotel appeared to be understaffed, meaning we'd have to wait quite a bit to receive service, e.g., at the reception, and staff seemed stressed at times.
Madeira Regency Cliff - Adults Only
4.4/557 Reviews
Just returned today from a 7 night stay in the Regency Cliff hotel. We were just looking for a quick break before Christmas and got an extremely reasonable deal via Jet2. The hotel is well located in the Lido area, we were quickly checked in by friendly receptionist staff and allocated a room on floor 2. This hotel is built into the cliff, it’s one of those hotels where entrance and reception are on level 6, all rooms are below. We were very pleased with our room, large, clean, superb sea views, and absolutely silent. At no point during the holiday did we hear any other noise than the waves crashing on the rocks below, excellent. Breakfast each morning was ok. First morning the waiting staff provided pots of delicious coffee, but every other morning we had to crowd around a self service coffee machine for very poor quality. Fruit juices tasted very diluted so we stopped getting them. On the plus side, the hot food selection was always piping hot. We didn’t eat any other meals in hotel so can’t comment on them. Happy hour in the bar was each night between 6 and 7. We went there most evenings, rarely saw more than two other couples, really was lacking any atmosphere, maybe just that time of year. The bar staff were excellent, even making me a whisky sour off menu. Only entertainment was a keyboard player some nights for an hour, not good or at least not to our taste. Overall a good break, excellent value, great location, we would consider staying here again
Reids Palace, A Belmond Hotel, Madeira

The breakfast is very good, suitable for children, the location of the hotel is impeccable, it can be said that the best. Recommended by British friends, the price is more expensive than other hotels. I didn't feel anything special when I looked at the website pictures, but I still believe in my friends and I booked them. Check-in is at night, from the front desk reception to the lead to the room to experience the professional, enthusiastic and meticulous service of the hotel staff. Needless to mention the room, there is a hotel manager's personal welcome speech, service introduction box, postcard, welcome dessert... Feel the bay's breeze night view on the balcony, drink some red wine, great. After a long-distance flight, take a shower in the classic and elegant bathtub, sweet as a dream. At 7 o'clock in the morning, the sun has not come out, greet a new day in the heated swimming pool in Jingyi. If you like sea water, you can swim in two seawater swimming pools, especially the unique piscina pool on the beach, let you let go of your imagination. Breakfast is a surprise. Every meal is carefully prepared, with a wide selection of ingredients, a wide variety of foods, and a lot of local specialties. The tableware is exquisite, and you can enjoy the feeling of the rising sun. The breakfast manager is great, remembering the name of each guest and feeling warm. The garden of the hotel, as a gardening professional, can only Wow, linger on, can't bear to leave, look at the picture... Finally, special thanks to Joana, your professional enthusiasm, so that every guest will come back again again again
