Monterey Properties in Fukuoka

The hotel's location is very convenient, close to Tenjin Underground City, with a subway station, two large convenience stores, and two supermarkets nearby. There are also some restaurants on the back street of the hotel and some street food stalls not far from the main entrance. Our six-day, five-night stay was very comfortable and pleasant, but during check-out, we encountered a very rude female front desk staff member named H. TOMONO, with long black hair and a mole near her mouth. After completing the check-out procedures, I asked her to help us store our three suitcases. She then asked what time we would return to pick them up. I turned to ask my family, and in the meantime, she came out from behind the counter to help organize the luggage that needed to be stored. After she finished organizing, I answered her question, and to my surprise, she didn't say another word. She just gave us a smile-less nod, and even as we turned to walk towards the elevator, she didn't say anything to us. When we got downstairs, I felt increasingly wronged, as if I had done something wrong. Additionally, during the check-out process, since we were communicating in English, she seemed to have difficulty with the language. I could sense from her tone that she wasn't very attentive to English-speaking guests and lacked the professional service attitude typically found in Japan. So, I went back up to ask for her name again. And here's the even more amusing part: when I asked for her name, she simply showed me her name tag while asking, ”why?” Then, after I took a picture of her name tag, she calmly turned around and continued chatting with another colleague, showing no interest in understanding what had happened or how she could help me. I find it hard to believe that this is the behavior of a hotel front desk employee. Such a service attitude is a far cry from the hotel's high ratings and made our precious family trip end on a very unpleasant note.

The subway entrance is super close and has an escalator, which makes it easy when you're dragging luggage. The hotel can receive packages for you (you pick them up at the front desk); I bought several Amazon Japan deliveries, including some large baby formula boxes, and they were all signed for successfully. The room size is decent; you can open two 24-inch suitcases, though the aisle will be a bit narrow, but still passable. There are convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, and you can get to Tenjin and Hakata by bus in addition to the subway, so transportation is very convenient. Plus, they give you two bottles of water every day, and there's a hot/cold water dispenser and a microwave, which is really nice. Oh, and Hakata Daruma Ramen is right next door, super close and delicious!

My daughter and I stayed here while attending a festival at PayPay Dome. It's very convenient, close to Tenjin Station, and there's a convenience store on the first floor. Our triple room was a bit small, but we weren't bothered by noise and had a quiet, comfortable stay. We also bought mentaiko French bread from the nearby Full Full and enjoyed some motsunabe.
