We recently stayed at La Vista Fujikawaguchiko after catching a competitive deal on Trip.com, and overall, we enjoyed our stay very much.
The accommodation itself is beautiful, set directly overlooking Lake Kawaguchi. The views of Mount Fuji across the lake are absolute perfection, and even though rain masked the mountain cap during our stay, the scenery remained captivating. By Japanese standards, the room was remarkably generous in size, giving us plenty of space to relax without feeling cramped. One of the best features was the in-room bathtub positioned to look right out over the lake and Mount Fuji. On top of that, we tried the hotel’s private onsen, which was a fantastic and soothing experience.
If you want to explore beyond the resort, the surrounding neighborhood has a few lovely local cafes worth checking out for a quiet coffee, tea, or fresh pastry with lake views. Just keep in mind that most of these area cafes cater primarily to day-trippers and close early—usually around 5:00 PM—so you'll want to schedule your outings for the morning or early afternoon.
On the downside regarding the hotel, the decor and room furnishings are showing their age a bit and could use a modern refresh, though this didn't take away from the overall comfort of our stay.
Despite the cloud cover and slightly older furniture, the unbeatable views, great room size, and excellent bath facilities made this a memorable trip.
