Akademie Street Boutique Hotel

We loved this place. Declan, Paul and the rest of the team were most welcoming and were the perfect hosts. Lots of advice and help on restaurants and wineries etc. We stayed in Twyfeling C and the room was great. Really comfy bed, free-standing bath, even a free minibar that was topped up each day. The breakfast was really good - lots of choice and plentiful. They call this your "home from home" and that's exactly what this place is. They make you feel so welcome and there are even sundowners in the Orangery, which is a nice touch. We loved our stay, will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this hotel.

Our three night stay at this beautiful boutique hotel was incredibly special. The decor and attention to detail made this a five star stay. Breakfast was a unique experience served by the pool. Pre and post dinner drinks in a stunning orangery was a special touch. The location is perfect - less than five minutes to the high street. However what made the stay stand out was the personable and friendly service by Declan at the team. We will be going back!

The secret little heaven in Franscchoek lies within this hotel. It is a home and thus a boutique hotel where everything is catered for. The rooms are all different and beyond special. There is a 4 poster bed and decor to die for. Bathroom wise, all amenities are taken care of from your candle in the bath tub and body scrub to all the usual suspects. Mini bar is included and stocked up superbly. We were able to even take our sparkling wine bottle and sit by the pool. We hardly saw many people because it is a small hotel and so you do feel quite exclusive. The pool is devine and the pool beds have the most comfortable cushions I have seen and hats and sun cream and everything you need, inc a pool bag in your room. The breakfast is something they clearly take pride in as it was insane. Anything and everything great is on the menu. The fresh fruit is sliced to perfection. In the evening there is an orangerie which is beautiful and a lovely talented lady was playing the piano and there was a table of cocktails (a little sweet for me) and wines and fizz and nuts etc and it is all part of the service. There is no other place to stay. We also regretted staying only 2 nights and wish we stayed more . The staff are all incredible so can not name them as they were literally all amazing.. Declan himself was super friendly and nice and you can tell how much passion has gone to this.

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! My wife and I stayed here during our honeymoon. From the minute the front door was answered, Declan and his team couldn't have made us feel more welcome or done more for us. They catered for our every need, the rooms having so many lovely personal touches which makes your stay as stress free and homely as possible. The breakfast was tremendous and again, the staff were 5-star! A mobile phone for each guest was a nice touch and concerned we hadn't booked dinner, Declan was "on the case", finding out what we liked and booking a table for us at an ideal restaurant in the town. Location is great for exploring Frannschoek and its refreshing to be able to walk around safely at night. Lovely pool to chill beside. The "night caps" offered in the Orangerie were the perfect end to a full day on the wine tram. Thank you to everyone at Akademie!! Hands down one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at and would recommend to everyone!

We first stayed here in 2003 and have been back several times since. It seems to get better each visit. Declan and the team make you feel totally at home and relaxed while providing an immensely professional and attentive - but never intrusive - service. The decor is exquisite, the location is ideal and the backdrop of the mountains breathtaking. The breakfast is unbeatable, but a glass (or two) of complimentary wine before dinner or a night cap in the orangery at the end of the evening offer a stiff challenge. We will be back!

This was our first time in South Africa, our 3 week holiday consisted of travelling to: Cape Town, Hermanus, Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Sabi Sands Safari & finishing off with a stay on the Zambezi river. From the moment we parked up outside 'The Akademie Street Boutique Hotel' and knocked on the door we had the loveliest of welcomes by Declan and the staff. The hotel is in a great location just a couple minutes walk from the centre of Franschhoek. It is very eclectic and the décor is to a high standard and very tastefully done with great attention to detail. Before venturing out to one of the local restaurant's the pre complementary drinks in the orangery and the local pianist playing was a lovely touch. Well done Declan you have created something very special, making sure your guests have a lovely experience, and all the staff were very attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We would highly recommend 'The Akademie Street Boutique Hotel' we certainly look forward to returning in the future. Julie & Bernard xx

Gelatenheid (upstairs) - Wonderful spacious and luxurious apartment, and wonderful service from Declan and the team. Nothing was too much trouble. Happy to arrange dinner reservations and transport if required. Perfect brekkies in the Orangerie, due to the weather, homemade granola, large selection of fruits, yogurt etc to start, followed by pretty much anything you’d want! Highly recommend this gem in Franschhoek!

From the moment Declan opened the door to Akademie Street we felt at home. He helped us feel relaxed and comfortable in the beautiful surroundings that is Akademie Street boutique hotel. It became a retreat to either wile away the day around the beautiful pool or come back to after a”hard day” on a wine tour. The Orangerie was incredible and a cool and relaxing place to sample the complimentary wine or the wonderful (if very alcoholic) cocktails. The breakfast was amazing with everything you would want from fresh fruit to granola to a freshly cooked breakfast with everything inbetween. Finally a special mention to Declan and the incredible staff. They were all wonderful and were there whenever required. The Akademie Street Boutique Hotel was the best small hotel my wife and I have ever been to and we will definitely be back. Well done Declan and the team.

It is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. The attention to detail was second to none, every little detail has been thought about and everything you need is taken care of. The greenhouse where they host evening drinks before dinner is an extraordinary space; the room and bed were so comfortable. To top it all off the owner and host Declan was so welcoming and all the staff were amazing. I highly recommend Akademie Street Boutique Hotel and look forward to returning next time I visit SA.
