Villa Tolomei Hotel & Resort

We arrived at this beautiful resort located on the hills of Florence, just 12 minutes via taxi from the city center, and we were welcomed by an elegant and quintessentially Tuscan atmosphere. The resort is set in a Renaissance Toscan villa with large rooms, high ceilings, and beautiful grounds. Fireplaces were lit, and Christmas lights and trees were displayed all over the resort. We were welcomed by very professional and friendly staff. The rooms were huge, and the views were breathtaking. We had a quick bite to eat (so we thought) in the beautiful restaurant, and we tasted their specialties; the resort has an olive garden and a vineyard, so they produce their own olives, olive oil, and red wine. We tasted delicious local prosciutto and salame, along with tasty cheeses and local delicatessen. We then went back to Florence in the evening and returned for the night. In the morning, we woke up, and the views from the windows were just incredible. Silence, piece, and beauty. Breakfast was great. The girls working in the breakfast room were just lovely and professional. The resort has a gym, a spa, and a swimming pool with panoramic views over Florence, open to those traveling in the summer. There is also a beautiful walk which would take you down hills into Florence. I highly recommend this resort for every season, wether you dream of Tuscan hills or want want to enjoy Florence, this is it! Thank you for the amazing stay!

My 2 friends and I were on a cross country Italy roadtrip. We came across Villa Tolomei in search of apartment rentals in Florence. Much to our surprise, the estate has apartments available on property (aside from regular hotel rooms) which we booked. The apartments are about a 3 minute walk to the main house, but worth the comfort and privacy. We were taken care of tremendously by Christian at the front desk during our check in and stay. The property grounds were magnificent with the pool facing the valley, and perfect for a relaxing evening sunset. The restaurant menu was a bit limited for lunch and dinner, but breakfast was a great array of options to choose from (with an in house coffee barista to make specialty caffeinated drinks). The property is a bit retreated from the city center, and can make a late night out difficult, but it is still accessible with taxis and BIRD scooters (if you’re up for that type of ride).

My wife and I spent 4 nights at Villa Tolomei at the end of September, beginning of October and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We was blessed with exceptional weather for this time of year with temperatures breaking 30 degrees everyday and not a cloud in the sky. Upon arrival we was given our key to room 37 which is a large room in a building just next to the main reception, it was a large bedroom with a huge separate bathroom, which in all honesty, whilst clean, tidy, functional and with free toiletries, the space could have been better utilised, no complaints with either the bathroom or the bedroom though. As the hotel is on a hilltop outside of the resort, it is a 15-20 Euro taxi ride into Florence unless you want to walk up and down the steep road which takes about 30-40 mins depending on your own personal circumstance but given this, we had the most stunning view of Florence from the back of our room, the swimming pool and the restaurant. The swimming pool is perfect, don't listen to the moans about the odd tile needing replacing etc, it is a great size, the sunbeds are great and you receive free use of towels. On top of this, Daniel, pool man by the summer, bellboy in the winter, will look after your every needs, with beer (8 euros a bottle) and wine (free it seems around the pool) a plenty. As I said, we was lucky with the weather and also, the pool heating had been turned on the previous week as well. Breakfast in the hotel was very good, lots of choice, be that fruit juices, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, pastries, and hot food including bacon and eggs, plus I enjoyed a couple of lattes each morning which was a bonus, honestly I am not doing it justice. We ate in Florence for the first three nights of our stay, which I had booked in advance having done my TripAdvisor research and we was not disappointed with any of our meals. Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the dinner in the restaurant at the hotel on our last night. We chose to eat in the restaurant as it was my wife's Birthday and our 30th Wedding Anniversary and without going into detail, the meal was the worse meal we had out of our four evening meals and the most expensive by far, almost double the other restaurants, and given there are hundreds of restaurants in Florence, I would suggest you do your homework before choosing where to eat. Florence is absolutely beautiful with so much to see and so much to do and everybody in Florence is very helpful and very pleasant, it was even a pleasure to shop in the markets and I am not a shopper at the best of times. My only real moan is that whilst the restaurant in the hotel recognised my wife's birthday by putting a candle in her desert, that was it, very underwhelming and quiet sad really, such a shame. That aside, I would definitely recommend Villa Tolomei and we will definitely stay there again in the future as we will definitely be coming back to Florence.

Thanks to the amazing staff at Villa Tolomei, our wedding day was absolutely perfect. We couldn't have done it without them. We didn't have a wedding planner since it wasn't in our budget, so luckily the villa has an events team who helped us with the coordination of everything. Special thanks to both Rosi and Anastasia for their help. The grounds are stunning. We had 80 people attend all from the USA and they were amazed of how beautiful everything was. Even if we didn't have florals, honestly it would have still been beautiful. The location is perfect because it's right up the hill in Florence. Majority of our guests stayed in the city center and we hired vans to bring everyone home afterwards. Some of our guests, and ourselves, stayed at the hotel that night. Highly recommend!

Lovely hotel - quiet and peaceful, with a great pool. We walked to and From Florence city center each day - 30-35 minutes each way. Some of the staff were quite surly/ aggressive/ rude, but most we just lovely and really helpful.

We spent 3 nights at this wonderful hotel. We arrived at 11.30am and were quickly checked into our room, which was available immediately. Our room was spacious with a large bed and beautiful bathroom. There was a terrace with 2 comfortable chairs and a table. (Room 25). The hotel is set in the countryside just outside of the city which suited us perfectly. After a busy day exploring it was lovely to return to the hotel and enjoy the pool with its fabulous views. Daniel at the pool was so attentive arranging sun beds and serving food and drinks. Nothing was too much. We ate dinner at the hotel on the first night and I can honestly say it was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The breakfast was a buffet which was always well stocked, there were other options available to order too. Staff were friendly and always happy to help. I’d read some reviews stating the hotel was hard to find, we had no problems, it was well sign posted and easy to find using GPS. We walked a couple of times into Florence, however taxi’s were readily available and cost around €15-€20. I would highly Villa Tolomei and will definitely be returning.

Room was small and the view wasn’t great But hotel is lovely and classical Beautiful objects everywhere
