The rooms are large, serviceable and fairly clean. Desk staff were very nice and did their best to help. But, often there was no one at the desk so I had to wait or look around for someone when I needed something. Nearly every time I passed the desk it seemed a customer was looking around for a person to help them. Our family group had six rooms total and in at least four of them, there was something broken. The window shade in two rooms, the telephone cord in another, and the lock on the door in a fourth. This caused a major problem because when my cousin and his six-year-old daughter went back to their room after an afternoon swim, they could not get in. Apparently, the battery that made the lock work had died and no one present at the hotel knew how to fix it. We were expected at a restaurant for dinner and the little girl was in her bathing suit. The manager (he might also be the owner - not sure) was unable to get the door open and the maintenance person was not nearby. We waited as long as we could, an hour or more, but finally had to go to a store to buy new clothes for the six-year-old so we could take her to the restaurant. My cousin had to spend money to buy new clothes that his daughter did not need. I explained this to the manager the next day and strongly suggested he offer my cousin some type of compensation. The manager said he'd discuss it with my cousin. He did not and when my cousin received his bill, it was for the full original amount - no break at all, not even for the cost of the clothes. Very unlcassy. Very poor customer service. Other things in the hotel were also broken such as the pancake-making machine at breakfast. It remained broken for the three days of our stay. If you'd like items such as the shades in your room to work and you want to be able to count on accessing your room and your things when you need to, my recommendation is stay elsewhere.

I spent four weeks here at the Residence Inn in Farmington Hills, from September 26. 2022 to October 22, 2022. Overall the room was comfortable, the queen sized bed was comfortable, did like the kitchen area where I can head out to Kroger and Heartland Markets to buy groceries instead of relying of going out to restaurants every day. Was able to use the desk area to setup my workspace where I was able to do some work. Utilized both the fitness centers (didn't anticipate I was doing my workouts using the treadmill four days per week! Plus utilized the weights in my workouts) as well as the laundry facilities once per week (NOTE: Bring quarters to use the laundry facilities, it's $1.75 to use the washer and $1.50 to use the dryer. You could get quarters from the front desk or get rolls of quarters at the Chase bank that's across the street) They do have a 'Market' where you can buy bottled water and snacks, however it's more cost effective to just go to the Heartland Market that's nearby to buy such items. Only one negative - the frequency on my room being cleaned by housekeeping. Granted I was working in my suite during the regular work week, however housekeeping only cleaned my room once on Saturday (in which the replaced the bedsheets, towels and cleaned out the garbage cans) during the four weeks I was there. When I brought this to the attention to the front desk I was told housekeeping will come clean my room, however when I came back after being out for several hours they only emptied the garbage cans and replaced the towels. Parking was no issue - parking is free and is outside in front and in the back of the hotel. I did observe that some people were parking their cars at the nearby Holiday Inn or Courtyard by Marriott. Would I come back to the Residence Inn for another long stay...yes...it was nice experience 'living' in Farmington Hills, Michigan in a nice suite.

Note: This is a delayed review, stay was prior to the pandemic. I stayed here for a couple of months for a project. This hotel is meant to be for overnight stays while you are on the road - not for a longer term stay. It is right by a gas station, and the freeway. It's close to a couple of fast food chains and a supermarket though. Breakfast is the same each and every day, and the rooms were so-so, a bit dated. There was one rude front desk staff, but the shuttle driver and the lady who prepares the breakfast more than makes up for the front desk staff who seems to hate Asians. Nonetheless, I was able to rack up a lot of points.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Room was very comfortable with mini fridge and microwave. The bed was big and comfort was a 7 out of 10. A/C unit was quiet. Toilet had super sucker pressure (you don't have to worry about clogging it) and the shower possibly had the BEST water pressure of any hotel I had every stayed at, it was great, felt like you walked out of a waterfall when you were done showering, very refreshing! The only downside to the room was the area around the sink was on the small side and the lighting around the sink need to be brighter. Breakfast was good, had your standards oatmeal, waffles, eggs, sausage, bagels but no muffins. Would stay here again, very quiet area on the weekend, and excellent value!

The staff is pleasant, but the hotel is absolutely disgusting. Especially the pool. Staff were fine overall, but the cleanliness of the hotel needs to be addressed. Issues: 1) Hair all over room. Shower = hair, floor = hair, bed = hair, Keurig = hair. Just gross! 2) Pool area is disgusting. Pool area tile is not appropriate and too slippery. Hair and trash everywhere. Trash in pool. Pool shower broken. Mold growth on floor near walls. Gross! The pool water was murky and the hot tub suds had chunks of mildew floating in them. I don't understand how the county hasn't shut this pool down. It was appalling! The next day was the same; no overnight pool area cleaning. 3) Soundproofing. There is none. 4) Restaurant is closed. I will never be back. Please clean this place up or at least close the pool. It may look on the outside like a Holiday Inn, but I've stayed at better Econo Lodges.
