Ginn Apartment-Hotel Stuttgart-Esslingen

The room was nicely laid out, spacious and very clean. Easy to clean floor boards rather than then beg bug carpet magnets. The shower was very powerful and responsive. Not too many heads or knobs to turn. For those used to a polished shiny reception/ hotel experience this clearly was not it. The front desk experience felt like East Germany (Soviet Occupied Zone) times mixed with Gen Z. The location of the hotel is great. A few minutes walk from the Altstadt and Bahnhof with lots of shops. Our room overlooked the main road, which may be a little noisy for some. The room did not appear to have its own temperature controls. The room had cooking hobs, and a large fridge (unstocked). Storage was very good. Strangely the apartment/hotel experience oscillated between digital and analogue. You received codes for entry to your room and level on your date of arrival, but late checkout had to be negotiated at particular times with the front desk (which did not seem to be staffed continuously through the day and who could only address 1 task at a time). Our access went from inputting keycodes to receiving a physical key (not card) for the late checkout. Breakfast was pre-booked but you then had to declare at the front desk on the second day that you were having breakfast. There was a pretty decent buffet but we did not see any eggs on offer and there was not much by way of explanation from the virtual staff. The concept felt like it was having an identity-crisis. Did it want to be apartment with an occasional front desk staff or a hybrid hotel? All in all though due to the good rooms, a pleasant experience and we would return. A great place to explore the beautiful medieval town of Esslingen and its vineyards.

My wife and I were very impressed by the Ginn hotel/apartment. Check-in was relatively easy. It was a bit strange not to have a key to our room, but the code worked each time. The shower was wonderful with a rain shower head that could be removed and used as a hand-held. It also featured three settings. The blinds in the room were great for blocking out the light. The heater in the room worked real well. In fact, we had to turn it down. My biggest complaint was simply the hardness of the mattress and the lack of additional pillows. All in all a very good stay in a great location.
