Original Sokos Hotel Tapiola Garden

A lovely and cozy hotel and I always enjoy the quietness in the area as well as the nice lake view next to it. Staff are very helpful and always smile.

During check in we were given the impression the hotel restaurant took walk in customers starting from 5pm. But when we actually went there, they told us we needed a reservation. As if it was obvious. The breakfast was by far the worst of any Finnish hotel we have stayed. Stale bread, a coffee machine that appeared to be ”in cleaning” but actually wasn’t working at all. Then they ran out of drip filtered coffee on top of that. Unfortunately no vegan breakfast options (apart from the obvious vegetables and bread) Bottles in the shower had grime and someone’s hair on them, minifridge was dirty inside. Reception staff was nice and location is convenient, rooms have balconies which is nice. Even the key card was dirty.

Not sure why this hotel has 4 stars. From my point of view this is firm 3 stars hotel. It's relatively clean but facilities are broken. For example, bidet in the room's bathroom doesn't work at all. Probably they decide to preserve water this way. Most remarkable thing in the room is huge but empty minibar! They say that minibars available "only in the superior rooms". Then why they are shining their emptiness in the regular rooms? The furniture in the room maybe modern but not functional. There no place to put the clothes. Everything has to be in the travel cases wich is not comfortable. Yes, there is balcony.. with a view on some building renovations. The water around the hotel doesn't fix the view. Restaurant is closed on Sunday and all other restaurants around are very expensive. Your choice: them or some small things in the food court in the mall. Breakfast is included but very basic. Also, it's great that hotel is allowed pets, (I hope) in designated rooms. No problem for myself but not sure about other guests in the 4 stars hotel. In addition, because of water and other preservation, they're cleaning the rooms once in three days. But you can order to clean your room if you need. So, because all of this, in my opinion,this is normal 3 stars hotel. The hotel has won award in preservation.This is wonderful! It would be nice to concentrate now on the main business they're in-the hospitality. I wouldn't stay here anymore if it will be my choice.

Building works 7am to 5pm so don’t think you will get a lie in or do work from the room….not a happy bunny…!!!!

Bed was very hard and pillow lumpy, extra bed was disaster. Matress was extreme thin and hard as rock, it was also very short, too short. I recommend Sandic, equell rooms and beds are much comfortable.

Best possible hotel location if you need accommodation in the Espoo area. Next to the big shopping mall Ainoa, close to transportation (metro, bus station, taxi station), close to nature for execise and several good dining options.
