Evancy Equihen-Plage

Decided to go to France on a whim for a couple of days with the family. Easy to book, easy to communicate and great value. Will definitely be returning. Around 45 mins from Calais so easy to get to. Really close to the beach so would be great for the summer!

Fine apartment for 4 people. Entrance hall, living + kitchen, bedroom with 1 double bed, bedroom with bunk beds, bathroom with lavobo and shower. Domain is located higher up about 1 km from the beach. Ample parking. Friendly staff. Breakfast service available. No wifi available in our apartment. Ideal as a base for visiting Boulogne-sur-Mer.

Lovely apartment in lovely village, with fantastic beach, downsides are it’s an unfinished complex so workmen started at 9am. No local shops, it’s described as beachfront but it’s a 10 min walk downhill, reception only open during day so unless you pre order breakfast you can’t have it. Only a couple of local restaurants which reception had no knowledge of so couldn’t book for us. The cafe at the beach is excellent and during day there is a crepe stall on car park at top of beach road

We’re given villa 49 on check in for three nights. Spacious for two with two sleeping rooms upstairs (queen with balcony sea view) and a tiny bathroom with window (tub is shower with black fungus in corners, loo and sink with an overused mirror cupboard, hairdryer and well lit). Downstairs a loo, kitchenette with electric cooker, coffee machine, electric kettle, microwave, dishwasher, sink, everything you need for breakfast and cold dinner, probably also for cooking. Dining table with 6 more or less damaged chairs, setty for 4 that us probably also a spare bed for 2, 2 comfortable armchairs, TV. On terrace table for 4-6, we saw 4 chairs and used the two best ones. Beds have linen. We only had a shower towel each (no small ones but also no space to hold them), toilet paper, shower gel, small soap and shampoo were there, as was stuff for kitchen. Not cheap but would stay again as well located .

When an accomodation reaches a certain cost per night you expect the quality of said accomodation to rise to meet that cost. This place does not. We rented an apartment with four beds for four nights. The first impression of the room was that it is very worn and not very cared for. It had a fishy, moist smell to it. We had planned to use the kitchen for dinner during our stay, but the plates and utensils where stained and the kitchen smelled of old grease. The shower had a layer of black/brown "stuff" around the edge at the bottom and black mould on the walls. We were only given four big towels and no small ones. When I told reception that there where not enough towels she charged us 5 euro per extra towel. Also there is not any aircondition. Not everything is bad though. The location is great. Just a short walk to the Equihen plage which is fantastic! The room is spacious and there is a furnished, private space outside for every room. Free parking.

Nice apartment tho building site opposite, needs a lick of paint outside. Comfortable bed, good mini kitchen & bathroom. Bit long walk to beach. Could do with some facilities. Nice quiet stay but most other apartments were empty.
