A beautiful inn located steps from Eiheiji Temple. Very professional and kind staff. Outstanding service. Serving full breakfast and dinner with your stay. The meals, are delicious and the rooms are exceptionally clean…the beds comfortable. In the morning and afternoon if you wish to visit the temple, staff will pick you up at the inn.

Interior Design is well done. However the view from room is not to the main Eiheiji temple but to the backside of ugly buildings. Unfortunately there is a moldy smell in the rooms which immediately affects the respiratory tract, maybe because of aircon and ventilation is not properly maintained. It has 15 rooms. The small Onsen is overcrowded especially when children play there. It has not the serene atmosphere you can expect from a place like this in this price category. Zen meditation in the main Eiheiji temple at 15.30 in afternoon is more or less of no use since the monk only speaks Japanese, no English instructions. The meditation hall is just a room and nothing special, it is just beside the walkway where all visitors pass and you hear them. Overall disappointing experience and I would not stay here again. For a perfect great stay, food and meditation/prayer in a wonderful temple go to Koyasan Fudo in. I came already twice it is fantastic.

A wonderful stay. The morning service at the temple was a profound experience. The introduction to zazen was great, though Japanese speakers will get most out of this - ditto the lecture before morning service. The meals were excellent, and everyone at the hotel was friendly and helpful. All together, this short stay was a true highlight of my month in Japan. If you’re staying over a Tuesday, you should be aware that (all?) the restaurants in Eiheiji village seem to close on that day. I’m sure the concierge at the hotel will be able to advise on where to get lunch.

Magical place. The Onsen and Meals were Amazing. The Activities are a once in a lifetime. Unfortunately the only view from rooms is buildings, wish there was a garden view or for sitting and soaking in the serenity.

Our stay here was wonderful—the staff, the food, the onsen and of course the arrangement of the temple activities. If you are going to Eihiji I highly recommend a stay here.

I stayed for two nights, and all four meals were delicious and filling, so I was very satisfied. I chose this inn mainly to visit Eiheiji Temple, but next time I'd like to stay at Hakujukan as well.

The location, facilities, environment, food, bathing, etc. all have meanings and meanings, but these are not intrusive, and are due to the fact that they are adjacent to Eiheiji Temple. As soon as you enter the facility, you are enveloped by the scent of incense, and Robiichi is small but beautiful. The rooms are clean and take advantage of the best aspects of Japanese and Western style. It's not fancy, but the high-quality beds and furniture are simple and comfortable. I can see guests relaxing by the window of their guest rooms, looking out at the stream in front of them, and I found myself doing the same thing with a cup of coffee in hand. For meals, you can choose between vegetarian cuisine and regular cuisine, but we recommend vegetarian cuisine. It had a lot of flavor and even my husband was full. (Maybe it was because I ate Soichi Sukatsudon for lunch.) The inn is connected to Eiheiji Temple of the Soto sect, and I was able to participate in the meditation experience (starting at 3:30 p.m.) and the morning service (from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.). I can. You will also be given special access to the Dharma Hall and Buddhist Hall under the guidance of a monk. There was no elevator, so there was a lot of climbing up and down stairs, so it was difficult for elderly people with walking disabilities. On that day, 18 rooms were full and there were about 20 to 24 participants, six of whom were foreigners who were sitting in the front row, meditating enthusiastically. We gathered at Lobby 1 and listened to the explanation before walking to Eiheiji Temple, but since most of the explanation was in Japanese, I thought it would be a good idea to give them an English guide in advance. Even with the explanations in Japanese, there were some parts that I didn't understand, such as technical and historical terms. As for the customer base, I imagine that 70-80% of the customers are women. The public bath is not large, but perhaps because my schedule was a little off, I was able to reserve it for myself and enjoy a relaxing soak. I checked in in late October wearing a thin autumn coat, but I made the correct decision to wear down jackets for work the next morning. The inn's private parking lot is separate and charges a fee, but there is a nearby parking lot that costs 300 yen a day and allows you to enter and exit freely. Other guests were also parked there.

Shojin ryori uses a large number of ingredients, is well seasoned, and left me feeling refreshed and satisfied after eating it. The breakfast was vegetarian cuisine, which was also good.
