Nice room and helpful staff. Manager very polite and accommodating. Very useful to have a bath and shower. Breakfast was adequate and flexible. I cannot comment on the restaurant as we did not try the food. We were pre-warned not to and online reviews rated them 15th out of 17 local places. A little shocked on the last night when a glass of wine with a splash... and a double Vodka & orange cordial cost £20. Definitely would not drink there again. We would certainly consider staying again if in the area.

We were pleasantly surprised. We didn’t have high expectations bearing in mind its proximity to the A3, but we had an easy, pleasant check in, with full explanation. We were allocated a room on the first floor. On entry, we were surprised at the size. The rooms are large. Double bed, long desk and 3 adjacent drawers; plenty of space to store cases; fridge, wardrobe; safe; shoe store; easy chair with table. The en suite is a good size with shower over bath which functions well. A welcome pack of bottle of cider and nibbles. We had a few things not quite right: the safe didn’t work - it needed a new battery. This was quickly rectified. The sink tap was a bit loose; and so was the toilet roll holder. Not big things. The deal came with breakfast. This had full English including black pudding! It was plentiful and reasonable quality. A cafetière of coffee was placed on the table, so we had a mug and a half each. The staff were very efficient and friendly. Good selection of pastries and juices and a good functioning toaster. This is also a pub and restaurant. The front car park can be busy. The rear car park is for the hotel part and usually has spare spaces, but the spaces are relatively narrow. The pub serves good beers and wines and the restaurant has good food. Access to the hotel is very good as it’s close to an interchange of the A3. There is a little background noise from the A3, but this is low due to the A3 being in a deep cutting. The hotel has good walking and cycling trails being close to the South Downs Way and also to the Queen Elizabeth Country Park. Clanfield is the nearest village with a good pub (The Rising Sun, which also serves good food) and local shops including a Budgens and a Co-op.

Excellent food. So much recently we have been very disappointed at the food served in our pub/ restaurants. Unless you are prepared to spend mega bucks it is often generic mass produced mush. NOT at the Hampshire Hog. Wonderful meal. Haddock bites were a meal in themselves . Pork belly was to die for. No room for desert!

We enjoyed the perfect Birthday Meal at The Hampshire Hog. The online booking and communication was excellent. We were given a friendly welcome and seated immediately. We were allowed to provide our own Birthday Cake which the staff served on request with plates and cutlery. They even provided a free Birthday drink which was a lovely touch. Our food was served promptly, hot and presented beautifully. We all enjoyed the dishes across the starter, main and desert menu. The staff were excellent throughout and really made the meal into a special occasion for us. We would book again anytime. Thank you.

I took my mother and daughter for an early evening meal and felt very disappointed with the outing. I booked a table for seven and we arrived just before. We were shown to our table given menus and asked about drinks. I specifically asked for a drink without ice, as I cannot tolerate ice cold drinks due to a medical condition. When it arrived, not only was it a much larger drink pint rather than half I had ordered, but it had ice in it. I asked for it to be changed and it was taken away and the ice removed, but the drink was not changed. We ordered meals and I had looked previously and was really looking forward to the poached salmon. However the waitress came back after five minutes to tell me that they had run out of salmon, so I ordered the same meal as my guests. We then waited over forty minutes for it to arrive. The restaurant did not appear busy, and there were several empty tables so I was quite surprised. The table was approached by another waitress who asked if everything was ok, when I expressed my displeasure at the wait, she went to find out how much longer, returning to say it was being plated up. We waited a further ten minutes for it to arrive. The vegetables were cool, but the meat was nice. We were asked if we wanted to order desert, and my daughter asked for the lemon curd bread and butter pudding which was advertised outside and on the board. Again unavailable. So we decided to call it quits and leave. Such a shame, a little forethought and attention to the details taken down could have made this a much better experience. Spoilt my opinion of the dining ay this venue, so none of us will return.

Food was nice but considering there was not many people there we had to wait over 40 minutes for our food. Our drinks order was incorrect, there were multiple food items missing and the atmosphere was not the best. Gemma, our waitress was lovely.

Very welcoming stop while cycling the southdowns way with my granddaughter. Very welcoming , secure storage for bikes , Granddaughter (12) loved the free bits in the room - tooth brush / paste. Eye mask and ear plugs . Beauty box . Snacks and I appreciated the free cider . Cold water in the mini fridge. Clean comfortable rooms . Good bath room . Lovely bar and food . Great breakfast to set us up for day . Best stop we had in the week .

Good Rooms, Good Food, Friendly Staff. Warm. friendly and efficient staff who are a credit to the pub / hotel. Good location for Portsmouth, Hayling Island and surrounding environs only a short drive away. Clean, tidy and well-presented rooms. Minor issue with a light which was promptly repaired by staff. Very good cooked breakfast, decent evening meal at reasonable prices, good selection of beer and wines.

Brown, dated, scruffy, overpriced. The walls are all running brown condensation, very unsettling and bath trim falling off. Communial areas all scuff marked and worn furnishings. Hampshire Hog.. or pig sty? Spoiled my trip.
