I had a wonderful weekend stay at this hotel. The weather was perfect, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They went above and beyond to make sure we had a relaxing and enjoyable time. I’ll definitely be coming back when I have the chance.

Located in the mountains of Qingcheng, this place truly feels like a “人间仙境” (a paradise on earth). Life here is simple and peaceful — villagers go about their daily routines by climbing up and down the mountain, which adds to the charm and authenticity of the experience. The air is incredibly clean and refreshing. Both hosts are exceptionally warm and welcoming, and they love sharing interesting stories about the area. You can really feel the care and effort they’ve put into the place, especially in the garden, which is beautifully maintained and a highlight of the stay. A perfect escape if you’re looking for tranquility and a deeper connection with nature.

We had an incredible stay at Zen Ju Qing Cheng Mountain — one of those rare places that feels less like a guesthouse and more like stepping into someone’s way of life. What truly made the stay unforgettable, were the owners, Colin and Xiaoxiao (Show). They are genuinely, unbelievably kind — the kind of hospitality that goes far beyond service. From the moment we arrived (after the small work-out of walking up an intense hill), we were welcomed like long-lost family. Other guests — many of them regulars — immediately included us and urged us to try local delicacies they brought, which says a lot about the atmosphere Colin and Show have created. There are so many small moments that stand out: being greeted with coffee in the morning (they take coffee very seriously, in the best way), tea in the afternoon (which they take just as seriously, it turns out!), and the constant sense that nothing is too much trouble. Whether it’s helping with transport, sharing local tips, or just making sure you’re comfortable, everything is done with warmth and sincerity. The setting is beautiful and serene, tucked into the mountain with a stunning courtyard full of flowers and greenery. You can tell Colin, one of the owners, has a real gift for it — everything feels alive and thoughtfully cared for. He even treks into the mountains to pick wild tea, which gives you a sense of how deeply connected the place is to its surroundings. That attention to detail carries through everywhere: fresh flowers in the rooms, calm design, and incredibly comfortable bedding. It’s one of those places where you start to wonder what a slower, more intentional way of living might feel like. Even just for a few days, you get a glimpse of that. If you’re looking for a peaceful mountain retreat with real soul — not just a place to stay, but an experience shaped by genuinely exceptional people — this is it.

When you yearn for a different lifestyle but not ready to commit yourself to changes? For me, traveling is a way to get a sneak peek into “what would it be”, even if just for a moment. I feel incredibly fortunate to have come across Several Mountain Houses, and I’m grateful for the owners’ generosity in creating such a beautiful place and sharing their mountain life with guests.   Many guests have already praised the lovely courtyard, the nature-surrounded rooms, the sensorial bed linens, and the warm, earthy aesthetic of the space. I wholeheartedly agree. Beyond that, there was something even more special. I was wowed by the tidy kitchen, thoughtfully designed and completed with high-quality appliances and tableware. It’s a place that move your mind from “I’m staying in a B&B” to “I’m staying in a home.” The cherry on top? Having the owner made you a perfect cup of latte or cappuccino in the morning. Of all my travels in China, this is the first homestay where I’ve experienced that personal touch.   We arrived by Didi and had to drop off by the roadside, cross a wooden bridge, and then tackle a steep hill path.  We called for help and the owner came down to meet us and made sure we felt welcomed. My friend told me she felt like we had stepped into a scene from a web novel—the little challenge at the start, the homey atmosphere, the owners and their charming “career life to mountain life” story all made the experience very special.   I would recommend this place to anyone seeking a peaceful mountain retreat. It's the perfect spot to unwind and reset.    A small tip: if you're in the mood for trekking, head up to the Wulong Gorge scenic area and work your way back. If we had known, we would totally skip Baiyun (White Cloud) temple / village and spend more time relaxing at the house.

Unique and fabulous setting on a traditional chinese courtyard. Beautiful, fresh and zen surroundings. Extremely comfortable beddings. Traditional and quality breakfasts. Hosts are obsessed about coffee, so we benefited 😁 Hosts are friendly and helpful still discreet. Could be better if curtains are more light blocking.

The room was beautiful, with fresh flowers. The scenery behind the mountain was also wonderful. I slept very well last night listening to the rain and the chirping of shrimp. They even drove to pick us up after we finished exploring the mountain and took us back to the guesthouse. Thank you! ☺️

Modern business emphasizes "replicability" as the best business model, but I believe that sometimes the irreplicable aspects are the most valuable and the core reason why a company or shop can operate for a long time. For example, the unique "human touch" of the "Several Mountain Retreats" where we stayed this time. This trip to Qingcheng Mountain was an "escape" from the hustle and bustle of the city and work. We chose to come to the mountains on a weekday to avoid being disturbed, but we were also worried about being bored or lonely. "Several Mountain Retreats" dispelled all our concerns, allowing us to truly experience the peaceful and leisurely life in the mountains. Upon arriving at the guesthouse, the two owners, Colin and Xiaoxiao, welcomed and treated us like old friends, with just the right amount of courtesy. They responded promptly to our small needs. The guesthouse has free self-service laundry; on the first night, my boyfriend forgot to take his clothes to the dryer, and when he came downstairs, he found they were already dried. They remembered our details and prepared extra towels and cups for us. In the evenings, sitting in the courtyard enjoying the breeze and rain, they kindly asked if we wanted some fruit. When we couldn't get a taxi back after eating nearby, they even came to pick us up and "take us home." And so on. Every day, the owner's handmade steamed buns and coffee were served for brunch. As a steamed bun and coffee lover, I was ecstatic!!! I usually eat steamed buns and coffee for lunch at home every day, and I never thought I could maintain my old habits even in Qingcheng Mountain. This is truly wonderful! The cat "Little Tiger" greeted us every day and wanted to be petted. The other cat, "Little Tabby," was a bit cautious, but I managed to pet him a few days later (hahaha). I'm a seasoned cat lover, so having cats makes me especially happy. And I'll always remember that night listening to the rain in the courtyard with the two cats. The overall decor of the guesthouse was clearly thoughtful, like a secluded paradise (I even saw a blue dragonfly!). The rooms were very clean, with harmonious colors, and fresh flowers, greenery, and bergamot potted plants everywhere. Every time I stepped into a room, I quickly felt relaxed. The layout was very convenient; for example, the light switches were placed very logically, so I didn't have to walk extra distances to turn the lights on or off. Everything was disposable, so hygiene wasn't a concern. They even thoughtfully provided makeup remover wipes. This is the longest review I've ever written—it's all about love and gratitude!! Fully charged back to work now, thanks Colin and Xiaoxiao!!!
