Astra Hostel

It's my second time and I'm very happy to spend time here in Astra hostel. Very cooperative staff and everything nice.

Really bad hostel in the world even the hot water it doesn't work

I lived in Japan back in 2016, and I spent approximately 6 months living in a Capsule Hotel in Tokyo, so I’m very familiar with the concept and I really like it. However, this was the first time I stayed in one with my partner. We are both tall enough men and I was not sure how comfortable we’d be. However, in the end, we had a fantastic experience. And the value for money is unmatched anywhere in Dublin and the surrounding area. The only issue we had was that the bathrooms were all in the basement, so if you needed to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you’d have to walk multiple sets of stairs to get to it. And there were also only 3 bathrooms for the entire hostel which was definitely not enough. All in all a great experience and we will definitely be returning.

Friendly staff and easy self check-in. Neat place with good service. I was pleased with the stay.

Self check in is perfect if you arrive late at night or need to leave early in the morning. Rooms are comfortable, and the pod was spacious. Despite being in a 8 mixed room, we barely saw anyone, so it was quite private. Both the pod and the toilets were clean, but there is just one toilet (one for men and one for women) in the basement, so you need to leave the room and go down a couple floors. We got a towel, which was an appreciated surprise. Overall very nice experience.

Great location and super comfy beds. Free water and access to fridge and clean kitchen/dining area. However there are only 3 toilets and showers for the whole hostel. There are also no charging ports that work within the pods. Pods also got quite hot and stuffy. You can rent a locker for €20 which is fully refundable, and isn't huge but convenient.

The hostel has something good but the basic standard facilities don't reflect the price, no curtains on the windows and beds has no black out covers or curtains, hence, the day light was in my face since the very early morning, and I couldn't sleep! The surprise was the shower in my room had no warm water and I discovered that while I was under the shower unfortunately, I had to go 4 floors down in order to find a shower with warm water.
