Palm Jumeirah
Just had the time of my life at the Marriott Resort on Palm Jumeirah, and let me spill the tea – it was an absolute dream. Let's start with the basics – this place is drop-dead gorgeous. The kind of beauty that makes you stop and go, ”Wait, am I really staying here?” The design, the ambiance, everything screams luxury without being too snooty. Rooms? Clean as a whistle and spacious enough to do a victory dance. You can tell they don't mess around when it comes to keeping things tidy. No dust bunnies dared to show their faces during my stay. Now, let's talk about the goodies. The amenities are no joke. They've got everything from a gym that could rival a fitness center to a spa that's basically a slice of heaven. And can we talk about those free drinks? In the room, by the pool, and even on the beach – they're practically handing you luxury on a silver platter. And speaking of the beach – private beach alert! It's like having your own secret paradise, far away from the hustle and bustle. I practically lived there, soaking in the tranquility like it was going out of style. The vibe at this place is next level – quiet, classy, and just the right amount of boujee. Whether you're sipping cocktails by the pool or diving into a feast at one of their fancy restaurants, you'll feel like you've been upgraded to a VIP status. Major props to the staff – these guys are hospitality wizards. They made every interaction a pleasure, from check-in to chowing down. Friendly, professional, and always ready to make your stay feel like you're the main character in your own luxury novel. Now, let's talk about the breakfast – oh boy, it's a game-changer. They don't mess around when it comes to the most important meal of the day. It's a feast for the senses with a spread that could make a food critic weep tears of joy. From continental classics to exotic delights, every craving is satisfied. I'm still daydreaming about those breakfasts – they alone are worth the stay. And let's not forget the view from my room – breathtaking doesn't even begin to cover it. Waking up to that kind of scenery is like getting a daily dose of visual therapy. In a nutshell, if you're ready to treat yourself like royalty, the Marriott Resort on Palm Jumeirah is the place to be. It's a stay that feels like a vacation from reality, and I can't recommend it enough. Treat yourself – you deserve it.

Having just returned on Friday after spending a week with the family (2 teen boys) I could not recommend this hotel enough. Whilst the hotel and ALL the facilities are 5 star, having the right personnel is paramount……….and you wont be disappointed at The Fairmont. Despite our check in at 4am, the process was made effortless by the staff. Though it was at this time the manger advised us the room we’d booked was not available due to a technical error their side and therefore they would be upgrading us to a suite the following day by 12 noon. The following day after breakfast the on duty manager Anoop Rai came to see us to thank us for our understanding and that our belongings would be moved across later that afternoon. True to his word, we were moved to a junior suite on the 8th floor with beautiful views of both the sea and Dubai Marina. The quality of service continued throughout our stay by all members of staff, though special thanks to both Suity and Jhenelyn on the front desk who were always there to answer any questions and assist with any restaurant reservations. That leads onto the food, Flow Kitchen is the buffet breakfast and evening dinner place and there’s a variety of different cuisine for all to enjoy……..you won’t be disappointed. You’ve then you’ve got the specialist restaurants and we tried a couple the first being the Sea Grill Bistro. Having booked half board, this gave us the set 3 course meal and option to add if we wanted. The portion sizes were good and the food was tasty, from starters (Caesar salad, Kale Salad and Prawns) to the mains (Salmon, Sea Bream and Chicken)…………so one we’d definitely recommend to dine at. The other was Little Miss India, which too did not disappoint with the various kebabs and curries, all of which were VERY tasty and the chef was happy to add the extra spice if required :) Having direct access to your own private beach was great, though we preferred to be pool side of which there are 4 with one being adults only (over 16’s). Finding sun loungers was generally okay, so you didn’t need to wake up super early to put towels down. The pool side team were always to hand to assist if you couldn’t find any and take your orders for any food or drinks. The location of this hotel is good on The Palm is good, lot’s to do around there with the various beach bars/restaurants (some age restricted) though a short taxi ride you can go to Dubai Marina, Atlantis and Bur Dubai. Stick to the yellow metered taxis, even though some of the black ones are metered we were told they’ll still be more expensive. Opposite the hotel on the Golden Mile you’ve got the Nakheel Mall, lots of shops including Waiterose and/or M&S for those feeling a little homesick :) One thing to note when booking, go for the ‘beverage package’ if you enjoy a drink or two. This allows anyone aged 21 or over 2 alcoholic drinks (beer or house wine) with both the red and white being VERY nice. So in a nutshell we’d certainly

Great view from the beach and rooftop pool. The only thing missing from the breakfast is the ala carte menu, which is already a standard in similar hotels.

More about Dubai

Introduction to Dubai: A Confluence of Traditions and Futurism

Located on the Eastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula, in the south west corner of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai is one of the seven emirates that make up the United Arab Emirates. Known for its opulent architecture, luxury shopping and vibrant nightlife, Dubai offers an irresistible blend of traditional Arabic culture and futuristic innovation. This city is home to the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa, and it boasts an artificial island in the shape of a palm tree, the Palm Jumeirah!

Tips for Travelling to Dubai

Dubai International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world, serves as the primary gateway to the city. The Dubai Metro, taxis, and ride-hailing services like Uber are commonly used to navigate the city.

Visa policies vary depending on nationality, so travellers are advised to check the UAE embassy website in their respective countries. Credit cards are widely accepted and the official language is Arabic, but English is commonly used, especially in business and by the large expatriate population.

As for traditions, remember that the UAE is a Muslim country and visitors should dress modestly in public. Also, the consumption of alcohol is regulated and is typically only allowed within licensed venues.

Unforgettable Attractions in Dubai

Dubai's iconic skyline is dominated by architectural marvels like the Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab and the Palm Jumeirah. Shoppers will find their paradise in the Dubai Mall and the traditional Gold and Spice Souks. For a dose of culture, one can visit the Dubai Museum, Al Fahidi Historic District or the stunning Jumeirah Mosque. The adventurous can explore the vast Arabian Desert on a safari.

Weather in Dubai and the Best Time to Visit

Dubai has a hot desert climate with extremely hot summers (June to September) with temperatures frequently reaching 41°C (105°F), and warm winters (December to March) averaging 24°C (75°F). The most comfortable time to visit is from November to April.

As for clothing, light, breathable fabrics are recommended due to the heat. However, it's also wise to carry a light jacket or shawl, as indoor areas can be heavily air-conditioned.

Selecting the Right Hotel in Dubai

Dubai's hotels are as varied and impressive as its skyline. To stay near main attractions, consider the Armani Hotel inside the Burj Khalifa.

For a food-centric stay, Pierchic offers gourmet dining and is located near various eateries.

For luxury accommodation, the Burj Al Arab is an iconic choice, while budget travellers can consider Rove Downtown, which offers great value.

Business travellers might appreciate the convenient location of Dusit Thani near the business district. Atlantis The Palm offers highly Instagrammable views and interiors. Near the airport, the Dubai International Hotel offers convenient and comfortable lodging.
