Friendly reception staff and quick check in and out process. The bedroom was clean and the bed was big enough for 1 adult and 2 kids. The Chinese style breakfast was plentiful and edible. There is a kitchen where you can order lunch and dinner for a reasonable price. There are also a few restaurants within a short walking distance. The area is beautiful and remote, the main reason I selected this location. There are some nice trails for walking - not signposted - just get lost and wander around. For a short taxi ride and cheap fare, you can visit Yu Cun square and surrounding areas for more choice of restaurants and coffee shops. Beware of the taxis at night - they will all add a large surcharge due to the remote environment. The first taxi we ordered tried to add 10 yuan and I hopped out. The next one tried to add 100. After this, I talked to the local police and was told that it’s common for this to happen. Beware! I messaged the guy at reception about this and he drove to collect the three of us. We are extremely grateful for this. He also brought us to the nearest local virus testing centre for our nucleic acid test. If you go in the opposite direction, you can walk to an area called Hou Wu. It’s a small little village in a pretty valley with some restaurants. It had some ebikes for rent which helped to save our feet from more walking. On the way to this area, there’s a nice local restaurant called Mountain cat 山里猫. The hostel had a pool table in reception and some board games that were essential to stop my kids being bored. The outdoor pool was also very nice after a day of walking around in the heat. The reception offers reasonably priced cold water for 2 yuan and cold Budweiser for 10 yuan.

This is a basic hotel without frills or flare. The advertised pictures look great but there is quite a big difference from what you see when you book as the place is a bit run down and has clutter in many places. Overall it’s very clean in the rooms but they allow smoking in the lobby and restaurant. The breakfast was the standard rice porridge and egg so if that is not for you I suggest you bring your own food. The staff was overall friendly but hard to get information from what I assumed was the male manager and I needed to ask several times about possible hiking trails and only got an answer when I finally said that I will find my own trails. If you like karaoke, pool table , table football, Chinese men swimming and walking around in underwear, smoking, clutter, Beijing belly and basic furniture then this is a great place.
