Shan Yu Guesthouse

Since it's a temporary stop for hikers going to Upper Yubeng, the hygiene could definitely be improved. The soundproofing isn't great, but it was surprisingly quiet at night when everyone was asleep – probably because they were all exhausted. The facilities were fine, and it wasn't cold at night. The best part is that the accommodation is very close to the Ice Lake entrance, which is super convenient.

The soundproofing in the room was quite poor; you could hear other guests talking. The cleanliness was generally fine, but there was no heating during my stay. However, the hotel providing a laundry room is definitely a plus for hikers!

I honestly wouldn't recommend Shang Yubeng Shanyu Hotel, the experience was really bad. After a long day of hiking, I came back to find no hot water all night. When I told the front desk, they just said, "You should shower earlier," completely ignoring the fact that our hiking schedule couldn't be controlled. The room was freezing cold, and the heater was completely useless; it didn't provide any warmth at all, and I was too cold to sleep at night. The sink was narrow and leaked, so my pants got soaked just washing my face. Both the hygiene and facilities were very shoddy. The only decent thing was probably the decor for photos, but the actual stay was far worse than other ordinary guesthouses in Yubeng. The service attitude was cold, and the infrastructure was terrible. Friends who are specifically coming here for hiking, seriously, don't make the mistake of staying here.
