After I completed my registration, the front desk asked me to pay RM50 (deposit) + RM2 (government tax), totaling RM52. He said the RM50 would be refunded to me after I checked out. I paid by scanning a QR code because he said the hotel does not accept cash anymore.
When I scanned the QR code, I didn’t notice the recipient’s name. After the payment went through, I realized the name was “Islam and Mohidul.” I asked him who that name belonged to. He quickly replied that he had accidentally given me the wrong QR code and admitted that the name belonged to him. He said it was the same and that he would return the money to me when I checked out the next day. I didn’t argue and accepted it.
The next day when I checked out, I asked for my deposit back. He asked if I could wait one hour because he had transferred the money to his friend the night before due to an urgent need. He said he had no money at the moment. Even if I argued, it wouldn’t help, so I agreed. He said he had my phone number and would transfer the money back to my TNG account later. I trusted him again.
However, from morning until now, the money has not been transferred to my TNG account at all. I really want to call him, but I don’t have his number. Even worse, the hotel phone number cannot reach him.
So I would like to ask, what should I do? Please give me some advice.
