InterContinental Dalian

Our first night in Dalian, we were lucky enough to get a free upgrade from a standard room to an executive suite, which we were absolutely thrilled with! The room was very spacious and the soundproofing was excellent, so my family got a great night's sleep. The breakfast was also delicious, especially the sea cucumber congee – highly recommended! 👍

Facilities: The hotel is a bit old, with a distinct vintage feel, but it's not run-down. Overall, it's pretty decent. However, for those who frequently stay in hotels, there might be a slight issue, as standard rooms don't have floor-to-ceiling windows. On the positive side, the bedding is quite new. Considering it opened in 2008, it's understandable. The executive lounge, though, offers an absolutely stunning view, overlooking the entire harbor. Hygiene: Most areas were very clean, and there were no odors or stains on the pillows, duvets, or mattresses. However, there was some white residue in the bathtub, which the hotel didn't clean thoroughly. Service: The service was very good, with quick response times. The check-in experience was also pleasant, with staff helping to carry luggage to the room, which was excellent! Environment: The environment is also good, and it's close to the subway station. Turn right out of the hotel, and you'll find Zhongshan Square, a nice spot to take friends or kids to see pigeons. Summary: If you don't mind its age, it's a good hotel. The hygiene is mostly fine, the facilities are functional, and the service is excellent. The breakfast is also quite distinctive, offering Dalian specialties like xiaolongbao, jianbing guozi, menzi, and sea cucumber rice. A few suggestions: the executive lounge's access control isn't very strict; they should have someone specifically guarding the entrance to prevent those without executive privileges from entering. Also, the curtains don't fully cover the windows, leaving gaps on both sides. And there should definitely be tissues on the bedside table, not just in the bathroom, as it's inconvenient. Side note: This hotel left a particularly deep impression on me because the room assigned to me upon check-in was a pleasant surprise. The hotel opened in 2008, and coincidentally, I was given room number 2008. It was a really great stay experience!

Before checking in, a customer manager contacted me to ask about my needs and arranged a sea-view room, which I was very satisfied with. The bathroom in the room was amazing, exceptionally well-designed. The hotel's location is excellent, making it convenient to go anywhere. Next time I visit Dalian, I'll definitely choose this hotel again.

The room is quite spacious, offering a bright and airy feel. My only minor gripes are the dim lighting in the evenings and the average quality of the toilet paper. Otherwise, everything else was great – the service was warm and attentive, and at the breakfast and dinner buffets, staff were there to guide guests to their seats. There was plenty of food, and servers were prompt in clearing empty plates. InterContinental definitely lives up to its five-star standard. The location is super convenient, with a Line 2 metro station very close by. I'd definitely consider staying here again.

I saw the most beautiful sunset at the hotel. The afternoon tea at the executive lounge was very quiet, and every staff member I encountered had excellent service and attitude! The breakfast was rich, and the swimming pool water quality was also very good. Overall, I was very satisfied!

InterContinental is still InterContinental, and Carl is still Carl. The service remains impeccable. However, the increasingly pungent smell in the room and the wear and tear of the furniture feel like an old friend whose health is deteriorating – it's a bit heartbreaking. I'm still giving it a good rating. Sentiment is irreplaceable, and I hope InterContinental Dalian renovates soon to regain its former glory.

The room was spacious with an excellent view of half of Barracuda Bay Stadium. It truly lives up to its reputation as a classic five-star hotel. The service was top-notch; they helped with luggage and I was able to check in at noon as my room was already prepared.

The service at InterContinental Dalian is top-notch. A butler named Riley called ahead to note down my requests and thoughtfully provided children's toiletries and bathrobes. The hotel's overall environment is excellent, and its location is very convenient. Zhongshan Square is right downstairs, and there are plenty of dining options nearby, making food delivery very easy and quick with robot delivery. Staying at the InterContinental was an excellent choice for this trip.

Luckily, the hotel's cloud butler service saved the day, otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to give a full score for this review. The room facilities were outdated, and the sealant in the bathroom was faulty, causing water to leak. Without a non-slip mat and bath towel, it would have been a safety hazard, as one could easily slip and fall. However, I was very satisfied with Carl's service, and as a result, I extended my stay. The resolution was also very heartwarming.
