This hotel truly fulfilled all my expectations for Dali! It's nestled in a quiet spot but still close to everything; step outside and you're in the lively ancient town, yet back in your room, all the unrelated noise just fades away. The white walls and natural wood, paired with the views of Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, make every photo look like a professional shot. The service is incredibly attentive, with a butler available 24/7. The breakfast is delicious and always hits the spot. The room is spacious and comfortable, and you can see the beautiful Erhai Lake just by opening the window. Even just lying there and daydreaming feels incredibly blissful. The views at Shangshang Shuanglang are absolutely stunning, offering a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle – perfect for just chilling out. Shuanglang Ancient Town itself is quite remote and there's not much to see, so I'd recommend staying just one night. The hotel service was excellent, polite and friendly.

I came here because of Xie Ke's design. First, the advantages: great location, right next to a pedestrian street, quiet despite being in a bustling area. Xie Ke's design is excellent; although a bit dated, it's still stylish. However, there were a few disappointing aspects. One was the public areas; while they were waterfront, compared to Gui Shu, they were really quite ordinary. Also, I called a day in advance to inquire about booking, and no one answered after at least five calls. When I finally got through, I tried to add him on WeChat, but he told me his WeChat was full and I couldn't add him without a reservation! Haha, does he think he can book rooms easily? How arrogant! If it weren't for Xie Ke's design, I really wouldn't have bothered booking it. I'd definitely stay at Gui Shu again.

At Xishang, I realized my ideal life. I did yoga by Erhai Lake in the courtyard (there was a Lulu yoga mat in the closet), read under the trees (the books chosen by the guesthouse were very tasteful), basked in the sun watching waterbirds frolic on the lake, and then went back to my room for a relaxing bath with a fragrant bath bomb from Lujiatu. My body felt soft and relaxed, and I snuggled into the super comfortable blankets for a long, deep sleep. I woke up feeling refreshed and energized. The breakfast selection was incredibly abundant, and every dish was delicious. There was also afternoon tea and a sweet soup at night. The service was very attentive (but not excessive or fake), providing just the right amount of comfort. Here, you could stay indoors all day, simply enjoying the guesthouse and the perfect life in a perfect space.
