Quiet, clean, friendly/competent staff. AND could not be more convenient. Food is pretty good which is important since it is a (short) drive to a restaurant. However, I also used Uber Eats and that worked well.

My first trip to Maine was amazing. This hotel was beautiful. I understand it only opened less than a year ago. The lobby was lovely, free breakfast, and a nightly happy hour with drinks and food. Gym and laundry facilities, and water/ice dispensaries throughout the hotel. The room was beautiful and so well led out. It was obvious the designers of this space understood the importance of maximizing space. It was one of the few hotels that did not have an alarm clock, which is so redundant these days. Had a room with 2 beds, very soft and spacious. 3 night stands, kitchen area, spacious bathroom, large closet, desk space...really, it was a perfect stay. 10 minutes to downtown Portland!

In July of this year, I made a reservation through ******* for one night's stay on September 14th. When I attempted to check in at 6 PM I was told that the reservation could not be honored because I was a “no-show”. The desk clerk told me that my reservation had been for two nights, the 13th and the 14th, and that because I was a “no-show” on the 13th I was deemed to be a no-show on the 14th. To get a room I had to book at the hotel's prevailing rate, which was $42.68 more than what I had paid via *******.. A check of my confirmation revealed that yes, I had reserved and indeed paid for two nights, the 13th and 14th, an error I overlooked when I received the confirmation papers from *******. (Had I, I would have corrected the mistake immediately!) Whose mistake this was...mine or Expedia's...is moot...since they sent written confirmation which I failed to correct, I had to bite the bullet on that. However, what is not in question is that TRU had been paid by ******* on my behalf for the two nights in question, and thus TRU had no business assuming that because I was absent on the 13th that I would therefore be absent on the 14th as well. I might have had car trouble, a medical issue, or have been delayed for some other reason... in any case I should have been able to rely on the room being available to me for the entire time for which it had been paid. The hotel manager, said his “system” automatically classified me as a no-show. He was adamant, and said that had I called the hotel and alerted them to my delay, they could have made some accommodation, but since I had not, there was nothing he would do. This is not how you treat a customer: as if TRU were a parent whose child had failed to notify that he wouldn't be home when he was supposed to be. Moreover, they had indeed accepted payment from ******* for both nights, yet when I asked TRU for a refund for the second night, they said sorry, I would have to deal with *******. Which I did. And when ******* contacted them with the same request, they relented and refunded the original amount of the charge for the second night. Bottom line: I was ripped off for the difference, $42.68. (Had ******* not contacted them, they would have happily waltzed away with A DOUBLE PAYMENT FOR THAT ONE NIGHT! Terrible, terrible customer relations....

My wife and I came to Portland Maine to visit family. We stayed at the Sheraton Sable Oaks and we were very pleased we did. I would like to thank Chris Merriam Exec Chef for his kind and generous hospitality. What a gentleman! Meg Poulin Sales Manager happened to come by our table just to say hello. Imagine that? And Suzie our waitress took very good care us. Through our conversations we determined that between the three of these wonderful people there was over 90 years of hospitality expeience at this single property. Can you imagine? That ”is” the testament of this matchless property. We...will...be staying there again. Thank you all

I have visited this hotel in the past and had an exceptional experience. The staff at this hotel is great. They are friendly, professional and helpful. My number one reason for retuning to this hotel is the barista that greets guests at the hotel in the morning. HIs name is Patrick. He is friendly and professional. He takes time to offer great place to visit in the area. My sister (from Las Vegas) and I stayed at this hotel back in 2021. My sister was so impressed with the professionalism and friendliness of this gentleman she said it made her whole trip. Whenever she recalls her trip to Maine Patrick's name comes up. This year when my husband and I planned to visited Maine I was sure to book our room at this hotel just because of the excellent service Patrick provided my sister and I a few years ago. Again, during our stay my husband and I were treated exceptionally well by Patrick. Patick's great service is contagious, and his acts of hospitality encourages younger less experienced employees to follow his lead. I will encourage friends and family that are going to be visiting Maine to stay at this hotel. Friendly staff, reasonable rates and clean rooms will keep us coming back. The housekeeping staff are exceptional as well.

The bed is super soft and super comfortable, the environment is still very good, there are supermarkets and popeyes nearby, love and love! Very affordable space is also very large! No loss star hotel

I think after 20 stays over the past 8 years, I should write a review. I travel mainly for business although the hotel is used more for family vacations. As far as I know, it is the only hotel in the downtown Portland area with a kitchenette which is the obvious major advantage. Another major plus is the location. While the hotel is on the popular waterfront, it is on the Eastern edge. Parking is less difficult on the street and also, you feel less like you are in a less congested area. The Eastern promenade is a block away where there is a great jogging and walking path. The final issue that sets this hotel apart from others is the front staff. They are incredibly accommodating, friendly, and cheerful. This has been a pattern for the past few years, and I am not quite sure how they attract and keep such good staff. It can make all the difference for your stay. Finally, if you want to know anything about Maine, bartender Greg will fill you in!

Let me open with I am a Hilton person. Mostly all I stay at when I travel. I would not recommend staying here. There are train tracks directly outside along one entire face of the hotel. One entire side of rooms are up against it. A freight train went by at 2:20 a.m. and woke up the entire room. Another train went by at 7 a.m. Rooms are clean which is why I gave it a second star. Staff is not great. Huge line to check in. Three people behind the counter. One checking people in and the other two literally standing there just talking. Garden Inn gives you either breakfast or 750 points with your stay. The women checked me in and didn’t ask. I asked her to put me in for the points, she said come down in the morning. I am a Diamond Member and asked about the free premium WiFi. The women said she had never heard of that. Just an all around disaster. Hilton needs to step up their game in Freeport because I will not be returning to this location.

Is a great place to go for relaxation very clean and pleasant the rooms are clean the only time we didn’t have in the bathroom was only one facecloth 2 towels and 1 hand towel and no plastic bags in the trash can other than that it’s a very nice place to go
