The hotel has no ambiance and charges money for every glass you break, even though you cleaned up the mess yourself and informed the reception about the incident. This is no five star service and customer unfriendly. At arrival you get a huge contract with all conditions of your stay. The only positieve review I can give is for the nice personnel in the restaurant during breakfast. And the ladies at the reception in the afternoon.

We stayed at the San Juan Hotel in Cuenca, Ecuador for the last few days of our amazing tour with Ecuador Expat Journeys. Everything about our stay was outstanding!! Our room was large and beautifully decorated, our bathroom was spacious with excellent water pressure, everything was immaculate! The staff at San Juan Hotel are fantastic - everyone was professional, helpful, welcoming and efficient! Our breakfasts were excellent, with lots of variety and fresh fruit! An absolutely beautiful hotel in a perfect neighborhood - quiet, yet close to everything! Highly recommend it!

The hotel is a colonial building very well conserved. The room are very nice, and the service is excellent. The hotel has many small places to sit and enjoy. Also a very nice garden, that you see from some of the room. There is also a spa, and very high end rooms. The breakfast is very good, and in some days you get specialties like Ceviche de camarón y trucha, or mote pillo, two nice local dishes, along with a well served continental breakfast. Juice of Andean Mora is a must. Location is right in the center of the Historic neighborhood of Cuenca, two blocks down the Cathedral, better imposible.

I have been to France many times through the years and enjoyed the awesome pastries. South of the US, I have struggled to find croissants worthy of the name, that is, until now. Trying to find pastry and coffee at 7;30 am before most of Cuenca has even awakened? That is no simple task. I walked and walked to 3 places, according to google, which would be open; no luck. Happily, I found the gorgeous San Juan Hotel and their sweet coffee and pastry area. The chocolate croissant was equal to any I've eaten in France, truly; flaky, buttery, and filled with excellent quality chocolate. When I mentioned how pleased I was, the wait staff asked if I would like to meet the chef. Alexis Paredes, is the genius. Upon conversing with him, he told me that he is self taught re: making croissants. Thank you Alexis Paredes!! M. Sarlat

San Juan es un Hotel maravilloso, céntrico que está cerca de todo. Una ciudad linda en la que la seguridad te permite salir a caminar en la noche sin problema. Todos los detalles son hermosos una casa colonial con un toque moderno de muy buen gusto. Si desayuno es espectacular cuenta con una estación de huevos que te hacen en ese momento como tú quieras el chef súper atento. El servicio es muy bueno son atentos en todo momento. Recomendado en su totalidad Mi experiencia en el spa del Hotel San Juan fue increíble. El jacuzzi y el turco con eucalipto me dejaron totalmente relajada, el ambiente es hermoso y muy limpio. Lo que más me gustó, aparte del spa, fue la atención del personal: pedí a una de las chicas de limpieza una toalla extra y en menos de un minuto ya me la había traído con una sonrisa. Se nota el cuidado en cada detalle. La próxima vez definitivamente probaré el masaje, me quedé con la duda de qué tan bueno será
