I stayed to walk the CTC across the UK. It was right next to the train station, so I could see the train passing by from the window, which was very romantic. Although the sound of the train passing by is a little loud. The room was so comfortable!

Excellent customer service, restaurant and bar staff always have a smile and are so helpful. I would like to mention Stacey who is by far the the most helpful member of staff, her knowledge and expertise is second to none. Jake the manager is professional in everything he does and he runs a tight ship, with his friendly and positive attitude this makes his staff feel at ease and this helps when the it is really busy. All the waitresses work their socks off and should be commended on their hard work.

Tricky to review this place as you get what you pay for, and it was 'ok' but given the reviews on here I was expecting a lot better. Personally I wouldn't stay again but have gone with 3/5 to try to be fair. The rooms are above a noisy pub and when I stayed looked like they were having roof problems as there was tarpaulin and buckets all over the roof outside the window. Thr room itself was spacious but a real paradox - in some ways very nicely decorated and maintained but in others pretty tatty/poorly thought through. For example, one bed was across the front of the wardrobe making it unuseable. The kettle had no socket anywhere near it to enable it to be used, and one of the lamps appeared to be shorting out, flashing on and off. The bathroom was similarly odd, with decent quality material but a tap that refused to get warm and a shower tray that moved when standing on it, feeling like it was about to give way. There was also various noises (fans running?) periodically throughout the night that were enough to keep waking me, and give some pretty poor nights sleep. Although the bed was advertised as Super King, it was actually 2 singles pushed together, which is a pet hate as it it both uncomfrotable and significantly shorter than a King/Super King. No toiletries were provided in the room despite being included in the listing and was told they had none when asking about this. I stayed two nights and there was no servicing of the room either.
The Ennerdale Country House Hotel ‘A Bespoke Hotel’

Just spent 2 nights here with my sister tracing our ancestors in the area. Our first night there was the first night the hotel had been open for 2 months. We were absolutely thrilled with our room, room 28, it was huge with beautiful views of the stunning gardens and very comfortable beds. The staff, especially Rachael and Jackie, can’t do enough for you and make u feel like family. People say the hotel is dated and it might be, but you are made to feel so welcome, who gives a stuff if the wallpaper is in need of replacement. It is a beautiful country house with history u can feel throughout the building . If u want modern, stay at a Travelodge but there will be no history and just a Travelodge bed, which i have suffered before. Thank you to all the staff there for making us feel so welcome.
The Globe Inn

A trip to Cumbria on a ”Dogcation” had me book into the Globe Inn at Gosforth for a couple of nights. advertised as dog friendly, with a bridleway of three miles to the beach at Seascale, it had the hallmarks of an ideal couple of days for me and my four legged friend. We were not disappointed, communication with the inn was excellent and we were met on arrival by Jamie who showed us to our room. The room had everything required, ensuite facilities, tea/coffee and a TV. A bit on the small side, but spotlessly clean. Similar accommodation across the road is double what I paid at this inn. so in terms of a cost effective stay this beats all competitors hands down. There should be some expectation management of staying here though, if you want a genuine English inn, run by hard working people trying to sustain a business in trying times, then book in here, support them and get a feel for the local area and life in Cumbria. If you want Air Conditioning in rooms, Hot Tub, Fitness Suite and room service on call 24 hrs then this is not the place for you, go pay at least £150 a night for those facilities. Now let me put this into the Globe inn context, Air Conditioning. is open or close the window until its comfy. Hot Tub, is a good shower is provided, Fitiness Suite, Is get off your backside and go for a walk in the stunning countryside(then have a hot shower. 24 hr Room Service is let them now what you need in advance and they are friendly enough to sort it out for you. I paid £43 a night, work out the Math ! for value for money. Breakfast was available in the cafe next door and was excellent(See pictures). All in all an excellent stay, ticked all my boxes and will book again

After climbing the scafell pike, we went straight to this hotel. The staffs were really kind especially to the old man. You can really see the passion in his work . The hotel was amazing because it’s clean and well maintained. They also have a restaurant so you don’t have to go outside to look for a food which is really inconvenient idea for those who are tired from climbing. I guess we tried to book for an uber eats, deliveroo etc but they don’t have it in that area. The food was great and they have a free breakfast as well.
