Don Antonio Posada

A hotel on a lovely tree-lined street, close to the centre of Colonia. The hotel is lovely - a little quirky but interesting in its style and layout and a welcome change from a standard, modern contemporary hotel room. There are nice communal rooms where guests can read or plan the next part of their trips. The pool area is also lovely. The staff are very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was lovely - particularly the apple cake!

I stayed in room 408 which was very quiet and had curtains that were able to block out the day light for a good sleep. The mattress had the right softness for my taste. Everything in the room was clean and functioning very well. The shower was hot also in the late evening and early morning. The garden is a quiet heaven where you can sit and read or even take a dip in the pool which looked quite inviting but since I didn't bring any swimming shorts I could not try it myself. The breakfast was excellent. Everything made a very fresh impression on me. The croissants were delivered in the morning by a bakery. They didn't taste like in France but still pretty good and were definitely fresh. The apple vanilla tart was so good that I had to take a second piece. The staff at the reception was very helpful and gave me some good advice for my trip to Montevideo. All my questions they were able to answer without having to google it first. Please don't come with the expectation of staying at a 5 star grand hotel. This is a very good hotel for the area, for what it offers and for the price it charges. Furthermore, it has a great colonial atmosphere. It makes you feel what the city is about. The only aspect that might make this hotel not a perfect match for you is that it has quite a few stairs. For me not a problem. I didn't even bother to ask for a lift or someone to help me with my luggage. However, if this is a concern for you maybe better check with them before you book.

Lovely stay in the historic core of Colonia without all the noise of the center. Staff are lovely and welcoming, property is a beautiful historic building with all the mod-cons. Dipping pool was perfect to cool off from laying in the strong sun (wear sunscreen! The UV in these parts is powerful). Highly recommend.

Wonderful. I stayed one night as a solo traveler- they were very helpful in advance via whatsapp and super helpful when I arrived as well. The room was comfortable and I loved the hotel layout. Did not use the pool but it looked great. Nice breakfast. Very good location- walkable to the old historic district (kind of in it).

We recommend Don Antonio Posada. In the heart of the city, it provides very good rooms, an excellent breakfast and friendly service. You can also use a small pool located in the middle of the courtyard. Honest price for value, so it’s a really good choice.

Colonia is a great place to unwind and stroll around, visiting history and architecture. Comfortable low-heeled shoes are best as most streets and sidewalks are cobblestone. This hotel is located on a quiet street near businesses and historical sites. The staff was very pleasant, and the room was comfortable. It was a great place to relax after a long flight. It rained while we were there so we didn’t get to experience the wonderful terrace and pool.

My fiancé and I visited Colonia and stayed here for one night. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The rooms were clean, vibrant and spacious. The pool and courtyard were well cared for and the architecture was complimented by a variety of lovely plants and art. We would definitely return!

Had a great spacious room with straight access to patio and pool. Very nice staff. Breakfast was small but sufficient. Would go again. Location is ideal to sightsee the old town and city centre. Within a reasonable walking distance to beach

This was an amazing find in Colonia. The staff are exceptional and so helpful. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the beds are great. The breakfast with home cooked treats was fantastic. Having a pool was a bonus on hot days and there is a lovely guest lounge and patio area to relax in. The Posada is a short walk from the ferry terminal and it is central for all activities in Colonia.
