Would not recommend. Run down rooms with bugs. Felt like some staff were doing you a favour if you asked for anything 😂 including Paul the manager at front desk. Disappointed.

This hotel is truly unique, steeped in history, and they do a wonderful job of preserving its century-old heritage while still embracing the 21st century. Everything is excellent, the staff are friendly and respectful, really valuing old-school service traditions. There's even a museum showcasing famous past guests like Anton Chekhov and Yuri Gagarin. The 20-meter saltwater pool, right on the Indian Ocean, is simply fantastic for relaxing when the sea is rough. As I mentioned, the rooms are styled from the 1960s-70s, and you even get the charming creak of the floors and stairs. The hotel team clearly puts a lot of effort into maintaining the property against the forces of time and the ocean's weather. The dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is a story in itself. You can explore not just local cuisine, but dishes from across South Asia. The chefs and restaurant staff really strive to make your stay here an enriching culinary journey into local culture and traditions. If it's your first time in Sri Lanka, I highly recommend this hotel for your initial introduction to the country. Despite the cost, it offers great value, especially considering its convenient location near Colombo's main attractions.

The oldest Western colonial hotel in the Far East. The creaking wooden floors add to its charm. It's called Galle Face because it faces Galle, which is a rather straightforward name.

Impeccable stay in a majestic, historical property. Highly recommended for the service from the incredibly kind and attentive staff, the stunning buffets, a perfectly situated sea fronted large and clean salt water pool, immaculately clean and quiet bedroom with a gorgeous rain shower and separate bath. The WiFi worked seamlessly and the coffee was perfect. Could not ask for more, it was a home from home and any trip to Columbo will begin and end here for me in future.

We were impressed with the Staff! They were very friendly, courteous and helpful..always with a smile. The Hotel is nostalgic and beautiful. Not the best with the amenities in the room compared to a modern hotel but overall good. The Breakfast was very good. Overall, we had a nice, pleasant stay.

This is by far one of my most treasured hotels in the world. I’m now approaching 150 check-ins and no I don’t live in Sri Lanka! The Galle Face Hotel is perhaps “old and tired” in places, buts its service and care for its patrons is in my opinion beyond reproach. I’d recommend anybody to stay here. Mr Feroz who man who runs the “In on the Green”, the hotel pub, cares about his staff and his customers, with an unobtrusive approach that reflects across the hotel. Mr Gerard Paul, Asst Manager Front Desk is another manager that cares about customer experience.  The Head Consierge is simply amazing to all guests. Put this against bell boys, cleaners, wit staff in bars and restaurants this hotel has it all. Yes as I said it’s getting old but it epitomizes charm, and has capitalized on colonialism, to its advantage providing great employment to its local staff.

Fantastic location on the beach with the most delightful staff that was very friendly. Breakfast and afternoon tea was great, and the room service tasted delicious. Even the man that serviced the room learned my name and said hello every time he saw me. Some minor errors on the part of the staff when it came to accuracy. They placed me in the wrong room initially, and then they forgot my beer when I ordered room service. Everything else was great. Lived up to the hype.

They have history of being the oldest luxury hotel in Asia, but that is really in the past. For one night, was ok. Fair installation and breakfast. Do not expect much.
