Beautiful historic hotel, comfy rooms, clean, quiet, fast hot water, loved the elevator, perfect location, nice breakfast, delicious coffee. The highlight was how helpful Louisa was with our confusing issue with the trains going on strike. She immediately researched our journey and found us solutions. I was amazing and will be forever grateful! From the moment I explained our predicament she went above and beyond to help us. The hotel alone was fabulous but Louisa is the diamond in this palace!

Me at 72 years, accustomed to traditional hotels couldn´t resist to stay here. Looked crazy enough to dare. And it is different. The rooms aka boxes are what was promised, comfortable bed, and a bathroom large enough. Friendly, helpful and engaged people working there. The breakfast was like the rooms, very small. Half size bread etc didn´t match the €6 pricetag. Overall it was a strange but pleasent experience. Very much because of the personal.

Hotel is by beach . Room is big and clean. Breakfast is very good. The supermarket is in next door. The town Sitio near Nazare is on the cliffs. The views are very beautiful and looks down the beach and town. It worths the visit. The parking on the hilltop is limited but if you go there early , you are still able to find place to park. The receptionist is very good and helpful. When I arrived at the hotel in the evening, I found flat tire. The young guy worked at the front desk helped me to call the rental car company to solve the problem. I definitely recommend this hotel to friends.

The hotel looks nice, however they don’t have a clear description and photos of the rooms! All the rooms are different and they don’t provide the photos of same category of the rooms and possible configurations you might face! We booked loft room and turned out they have 3 different loft rooms and photos of only two rooms are provided on the website and all other booking websites. Same with basic category - double room! We moved from this awfully equiped loft room to double room - on the photos everywhere the toilet and bathroom is separated from the room by door! However we were “lucky” enough to get the room where you have the shower right inside your bedroom. I believe the hotel should create a category for this kind of rooms and not put them all in same category as it’s absolutely confusing and very disappointing! Also after the downgrade of the room they declined the refund of the difference! The managing team refused to talk to us and that’s the level of hospitality that you will face here!

The rooms are air-conditioned with warm and cold air, very clean and tidy, and the hot water is great. The ventilation fan in the toilet will automatically turn off at night and turn on during the day. Three languages are spoken at the front desk and the service is also very good. Overall the price/performance ratio is very good, the room can see the Mondego River, opposite the park, there is Burger King nearby, and the central street of Coimbra is 5 minutes' walk away. European hotels do not provide toiletries and there are no slippers in the rooms. Very satisfied.

This is a nice, clean, modern hotel but there are pros and cons as follows :- Pros - Clean, well appointed rooms which we found to be quiet Very nice bar/lounge with TV Barman switched the channel so we could watch an English soccer game (although he did keep disappearing for long periods - we don’t know whether he had another job or a girlfriend somewhere else in the hotel) Pool area is very pleasant Breakfast included and it was an excellent buffet Cons - Not a major problem for us but it is a bit of a walk (at least 10 mins) into ‘town’. This could be a problem for those who are not so mobile Big tour groups are accommodated, so it was a good job that we were at breakfast right on opening time at 7am. About 30 mins later the place was swamped by a very large party Unfortunately, not every breakfast dish was ready at 7am so we did miss out on a few items. This is bad food and beverage management Since it was raining and there is nowhere else to eat close by, we had dinner in the restaurant. We thought that €25was expensive for the buffet so we ate à la carte. My rice was very dry as was my friend’s pork. Not impressed at all. Just hope you don’t want to check in or out when a tour bus arrives or is about to depart. I would have given 3 and a half stars but 3 is too low so we’ll go with 4 as the staff were all very friendly.

Very good hotel, is a manor hotel, the hotel's small garden is not big, but it is very exquisite, not in the downtown area, after going through the river, going to the university, Coimbra is not big, the spots are concentrated, recommended

It’s a joke when someone can’t sit on the toilet properly because the counter tops were cut to large and do they hang over your legs like your sitting in a hi-chair. It shows the hotels disrespect for the comfort of their guest When they could’ve taken care of it when it was first put it in. Whatever happened to comfort we’ll it’s not here the beds are rock hard ant the pillow cases feel like disposable ones. I won’t even get started about the customer service. It is a travel in time. Literally. Building is a jewel, truly extraordinary, in good shape. Common areas are in good shape yet a bit dated and lack decent lightning. it’s shame Bedrooms though are less than a 3 stars. All is BAD except the linen; lack of furniture; no tv channels; terrible lightning; it’s unexplainable. Bathroom is spacious and from the 1970s but I liked it very much design wise. The attitude of staff is VERY weird, as if everyone knew something is wrong. We arrived in a rainy evening. The check In person was nice but seemed lost or that he had drunk too much. Unclear. We had dinner and breakfast there. The price of wines is a scandal. Absurd. Food was ok, also overpriced. The hotel is clearly understaffed in order to be kept afloat. They ask you to please book the breakfast time. Staff was okish, old fashioned, not kind, burned out perhaps but trying to do their work ok. There was a strange demeanor though— most specially someone that identified himself as ‘Barman’ and that seemed to be the head of some mafia. Really bad energy from him. The whole thing does not feel credible, even the descriptions of the group to which the hotel belongs sound infatuated. To sum up: Is a grand and old hotel that clearly needs to change hands, enter in a diferent attitude towards hosting, get into a new type of grandeur and life that honors the incredible building and location. Now, for €107 with breakfast, I highly recommend it! Have dinner somewhere else or there, take your wifi, enjoy the park, wake up in the middle of the forest etc. breakfast is 4*.
