This is by far the cheapest place to stay in Coffs Harbour, so any review needs to take this into account. It's definitely not an upmarket place. The room was tiny, the TV remote was missing and reception didn't have a replacement, the aircon made noise but didn't cool down the room at all. The fridge was so cold that the milk I put in there was a block of ice in the morning.
That said, the room was decently clean and the bed comfortable. The location is very good too, just across the road from the major shopping area in Coffs Harbour.
If you're not expecting an upmarket place, this is absolutely value for money.

For a motor side inn, this was very good. Although close to the Pacific Highway, once we were inside our room, we could hear very little road noise. Our room was tidy, dark, had a comfortable bed and was well equipped (including a microwave). The shower was hot and powerful. Vanessa, on reception, was very helpful (with places to see, eat, etc).

We stopped her for one night on our way to Sydney. We met a lovely couple at reception who were taking care of the running of the hotel for a few weeks. They advised us on local restaurants etc. Coffs Harbour Surf club is lovely for breakfast. As in other reviews, it is dated and a bit dark but it was also inexpensive, clean and had a comfortable bed which suited us for one night. There is also a shopping centre to the rear of the property with supermarkets and restaurants.

What a GEM! Staff are friendly, helpful and welcoming. We stayed in the newest section of the hotel and we have already re-booked a return stay. We thoroughly recommend this hotel, room was clean and modern, easy off-street parking, walking distance to town Centre or easy short drive to the Plaza as well as nice drive to Woolgoolga or any of the locations between Coffs and further north.

Outstanding friendly and helpful service, modern and fresh in a look in a historical context, brilliant, nostalgic. Good food in the bistro, great location close to the train station, easy to find for travellers who want to get away from the night time B-doubles using the highway. As close as you can get to the jetty, close to the marina and Mutton Bird Island, Coffs Creek, Park beach, Gallows beach in easy walking reach. Well worth staying more than one night if your schedule allows.
The shared bathroom is a touch of authenticity and should not discourage staying there, it’s a corner pub. I will return for more than one night.

The breakfast is very rich, there are many fruit designs, and there are milk and coffee drinks. Egg bacon ham is delicious. The suites are large in size and have sofas for children. Be aware that there is a large area of forest near the beach, and children should not go out to run at night. There is free parking and it is suitable for self-driving.

Two and a half hours' drive from Port Byron, we arrived at the seaside resort town of Cosgrove, which is far away from the hustle and bustle. The city population is only 70,000, with green mountains, pristine and clean beaches, rich natural beauty, many national parks, and the most livable environment in Australia.
We live in the Pacific Bay Resort, cost-effective, 77 square meters of the landscape executive room, the price is only 908 yuan (now ordered to more than 1700 yuan), spacious and bright, well-equipped, is the lotus pond, golf course, mountains and wooden bridge, comfortable and pleasant. Walking on the golf course, reveling in the lakes and mountains, Go to the edge of the primeval forest to breathe fresh alpine air, walk on the beach or surf the sea... The sea beach, lake and mountain, jungle breeze, lawn flowers, blue sky and white clouds, can be said to be a microcosm of the town with all the natural beauty, leisure resort. Located on the slope of the house, facing the sea, spring flowers, in this pension is really happy.

Outstanding
SSwell55The name suggested something slightly sophisticated with maybe French styled rooms but no. It’s an ordinary new 2 storey house with a lift to the upper level of guest rooms. The lift got us up but the owner told us it was broken for any self operated use. That wasn’t a problem. The room was small with outlook to the adjoining houses roof and clothesline. We were the only guests on the day so why put us in such a poor room. It was bland with a wall mounted TV. The bathroom is tight with a shower door that’s difficult to enter and exit. The bed was a queen and comfortable enough. We were tired after a long day driving from Sydney so just wanted to rest, watch TV and eat some takeaway food. We sat in the upstairs guest area, again with no view. The lighting everywhere is laboratory white LED downlights. They were uncomfortable so we turned off the over head ones and turned on the ones over the stair behind us. The owner then appeared and without a word turned off that light and turned on the ones above us. When told him why he launched into telling us how much he paid in power bills and so he turned off all “unnecessary” lights. We pointed out that we had no lights over us. He then said the light over the stair turned on a hall light downstairs. So I pointed out that we were paying $185 for the night to which he replied he didn’t get all that. Then straight away he offered to refund the tariff if we moved out. All over a light that would have cost 10 cents in power. We decided to stay. Too much trouble to change at the late hour but the incident kept me awake for hours. We left as quickly as possible in the morning without breakfast. What could have been an ok stay turned into a really unpleasant experience. Stay at Sansom Resort. Which I also have reviewed.
MM TWe booked with travel auctions for a superior cabin. Upon ringing to confirm booking I was informed it was a standard cabin and they would upgrade me in relation to my booking when I arrived and saw the cabin it was not an upgrade at all compared to the original cabin booked. Upon speaking with park staff she said yes your cabin has an oven and the other cabin did not which was a lie and the bed is in a different spot which it is not. I would not recommend this park or believe what the park staff say. Yes there are other parks in the vicinity and yes in future I will take the recommendations. All I want is what I had paid for on my booking papers. I also know it’s not the Hilton but I should get what I paid for.
RrogandchezWhat a beautiful destination !!!!! From the moment we arrived it was amazing Never have we stayed anywhere that has put so much thought into making your holiday a memorable one The rooms were spotless with comfy beds . The kitchen had everything we needed even a sandwich press You had access to the laundry (free use of the washing machine and dryer) and also there was a cupboard that was stocked with board games books and tennis rackets balls etc The pool was amazing and open till 8.30 and there was a bbq , tables and kitchen area which had plates cutlery etc so all we needed was to take our food which was great . The beach was just a short stroll and so picturesque. We were lucky to see dolphins on 2 occasions . Thank you to all the staff at smugglers for the efforts and personal touches you provide We will definitely be back ……. We travelled with our son and 5 year old granddaughter. Stayed in 2 b/room apartment on the ground floor
GGuest UserWe stayed in the Gumnut villa which was absolutely horrible. The toilet was flooding the bathroom floor, the shower head in the ensuite was like being hosed by a fire hydrant. The toilet in the ensuite felt tiny, like it was meant for young children. There was an ants nest in the light above the master bed which was dripping ants and nest pieces on me throughout the night so we moved the bed out of the way. The fan in that room was vibrating so bad that it would shake more ants onto the bed. The aircon was working but I don't think the room was insulated so it was never enough. We had two fans running to try and push cool air into the kids room for the entire week we were there. The matresses felt absolutely horrible and felt like I was going to roll off the bed each time I move. There was some mould on the bedroom walls. The whole cabin was just old, outdated and very worn. The wifi hardly worked which was not so great because there was also no cell service in most of the park. Great if you want to have no connection but not so great when you need to use the internet to search for places to go and things to see in the area. Why am I giving it 4 stars? Because of Jan! The staff there were amazing! Jan tried to do everything in her power (and then some!) To try and help us out. She was incredible! The facilities were also great! Lots for the kids to do, direct beach access, kangaroos all over the place, pools, water play equipment, slides, tennis courts, archery, go karts, all great fun! The bikes are old and pretty run down so not worth renting. Thanks again to Jan! We hope to stay here again but in one of the more modern cabins (or in our own tent).
This is a great motel. We turned up late in the afternoon on Friday 1st March without a booking and were greeted with a smile. Wonderful room, great pool and nothing was a problem. Good location to the local amenities and very comfortable beds. The room had everything you could need, even fresh milk for the morning coffee. Much better than some big name hotels - 5 Gold Stars to Lyn and Arthur - FYI, I stay at a lot of hotels! I would recommend to anyone who wants a friendly atmosphere, great location and comfort. Will stay there again when next in Coffs Harbour. Thank you Lyn and Arthur...and Cooper Jackson, of course. Martin and Sarah (UK)
DDavis2486We only stayed one night but it was lovely quiet freshly renovated room. Great full size kitchen and bathroom. Bed was comfortable and aircon was a great. The pool and garden area was very tranquil and relaxing. Serious lawn envy here. Great undercover carport with spacious parking. Walking distance to many cafes and restaurants. The beach just a short 50m stroll. This one is on the return to list for sure.
AVOID AVOID AVOID!!! Dodgy, dirty and untrustworthy! but if you must stay here...Do NOT...under any circumstance...let these people record your credit card details when booking over the phone. Alarm bells should have rung at time of booking when prices kept changing. *********** was far cheaper than booking direct with the motel. Arrived and was charged $205 for the room. Asked if this was correct as was told $230 via email. The girl at reception said...”oh I dunno, I suppose”. So I paid and I said i didn't want anything more charged to our card that they had recorded upon booking over the phone (as I'd read previous reviews warning about this). Drove around to our room passing overflowing bins of dirty linen outside rooms and rubbish laying everywhere (reminded me of something out of the movies.. we should've left at this point but anyway). When we checked into the room, it was different to what we asked for but didn't see the point of questioning it as reception had been so indecisive and vague. After arrival, we used the laundry. It was full of sheets and towels for rooms. Thought it was odd we were allowed around all of this. 1hr later, i noticed a $10 fee charged to our card, when I questioned reception, was told it was for laundry. I was fine with being charged, but I'd previously asked for charges NOT to be put to our card and that i would pay cash. Asked AGAIN for NOTHING more to be charged to that card. Whilst doing laundry, the power tripped and reception said 'oh just go to the box and flick a few things, I dunno (more vagueness). Not a, ”let me fix it for you, or let me call my boss”.. .just vague and shrugging of shoulders. She just directed us to a power box that had live connections...no trip switches. Touching this would be very dangerous. Cannot believe she asked us to do this to be honest. Advised reception again the power was still off (our clothes were mid cycle in the machine) but just received more vagueness. She walked to a cupboard in reception and opened it up and asked me to look at it, where she proceeded to want to 'flick random switches', even asking me to do it!!! I said...'you probably dont want to do that, it'll turn power off to the whole place'. She then just told us to flick more switches in the laundry and move cords as much as we liked to try to get it all working...what the actual heck???? Despite all this....the next day after we checked out and were driving to our next destination, i noticed ANOTHER charge on our credit card. They had the hide to charge our card again... A THIRD TIME...this time it was for extra for the room where they had stuffed up the price. When I questioned them via email regarding the charge (as speaking on the phone was no use as reception's English was not clear enough to understand)...I got radio silence, for hours. That was until I gave up on receiving a reply, and said I would leave a detailed review instead and that I had blocked our card. All of a sudden, I received a reply and
HHatamiI got an ocean view room which was great. I could hear ocean call from the room. You can walk to the beach from hotel and the facilities: pool and tenis and golf courts are fantastic. Very satisfied and definitely
recommend others.
I had a stay with 2 friends traveling through. It was clean and we had 3 single beds. Not over priced. Easy to book through ***********. Check in and out was easy. It is an older motel but clean and nicely freshened up. The bathroom was a good size too. Downside for me was the bed. It was a bit on the firm side with not alot of padding on the springs unfortunately. Handy location just off the highway heard a bit of traffic noise, not far from Coffs Harbour and Mutton Bird Island.
$149.00 for a very tiny room with no air-conditioning and paper thin walls surrounded by drunken yobbos is pretty poor. Checking in was done by a highly indifferent staffer who looked like she'd rather be anywhere else and was borderline rude. The feeling was that everyone booking in was a potential criminal who needed to be treated as such. The meal was excellent and the servery and bat staff are obviously not mentored by the staff member I originally encountered. I stay in around 250 motels a year for work and will continue to call out average places. Eat here by all means but do not stay here.
