Summer Bay Orlando by Exploria Resorts

Beautiful resort!

It was ok… not worth the hefty price unless you’re spending a lot of time at a resort instead of exploring. The hotel is located 20 min outside of Orlando. The in house Starbucks is nice but don’t expect to earn any points. Gym is ok.

For the price, Summer Bay has tons of value. We’ve stayed here twice in the last year. First time was awesome as the room was more newly built (the 500 section) and closer to the good pool & rec centre. Second stay (in the 100 section) was good but not great. The room/building was older; the pool nearest to us under renovation. So, we packed more stuff and budgeted extra time to walk or shuttle to the other pools. On a rainy day, the rec centre attendant wouldn’t open the craft room for our little kids so the activities for them on that morning were limited but we got by (there is tons to do in Orlando - rain or shine after all!)

Staying at Summer Bay Orlando is always a treat. The staff is friendly, the property is well kept and the activities are great for kids and adults alike.

First night, door to unit we were in was broken, cold air and TONS of bugs got in. Bug in beds. We were bitten up. Rain water came into the unit. Jetted tub had black stuff come out of the jets. Moved to another unit, no offer to help move things. Last day of vacation ruined, washing machine broke, had to stay so they could repair it. Washer filled with water, turned off, leaving clothes in washer filled with water. Called front desk, no answer. Tried several times. It was later in the evening, we waited until next day. Finally got someone, they fixed the washer, but it stopped working again. Had to remove wet clothes and wait around for them to replace washer. They gave us access to washer/dryer in the unit next to ours. Washer worked, dryer didn’t. We had TWO broken sets. They replaced first washer/dryer, we took clothes back to dry them, new dryer didn’t work. Had to wait for dryer to be repaired in the unit next to us. Took most of day. Had to wash our clothes in our unit, then carry wet clothes next door to dry. Took most of our day/night, unable to go to the places we planned to visit. Bugs crawled on food on counters, found someone’s DIRTY UNDERWEAR in our room, dirty dishes in kitchen drawers, second jetted tub dirtier than the first. Lost our last full day of our vacation, and were compensated with one free pizza. DO NOT STAY HERE OR BUY FROM THEM! Reporting full complaint to BBB.

The property, rooms, customer service, location were all excellent. Really enjoyed our stay.

Through our experience at this resort, we found it to be average. The resort had a great location that was very convenient as it was near all the popular attractions in Orlando. It also had fun and clean pools which were enjoyable to use. However, the communication and service with the employees was not good. None of the requests we made in regards to ordering towels and toiletries were fulfilled properly. Many of the requests we made to the employees over the phone were ignored. The few requests that weren’t ignored, were delivered with less items than asked for. The employees displayed incompetence with listening to and understanding our basic needs, that most other hotels are capable of doing. Additionally, the employees displayed their lack of time management skills through their incapability to fulfill orders and requests of vital items in a timely manner. The hotel also charges an extra fee for basic room service, which led to an uncomfortable stay. Overall, while this resort had great facilities and a good location, its minimal service and treatment to its customers made for an unpleasant and stressful stay.

For some reason I was downgraded even I paid the full price for the booking. No one wanted to be responsible for it neither received an explanation. My family slept uncomfortably because of the downgrade we missed one bed.

Me my wife and kids loved that fact that there are so many pools to choose from and great Places to grab a bite to eat. One of the best parts about the resort is the transportation that is provided. Also grocery store right next door! Cannot wait to stay again!
