Selva Teenek

You might think the animals would be the biggest draw at Selva Teenek, and indeed they were an enormous highlight of our 12 days in this part of Mexico (more on animals in a minute). But what really amazed us was the personal attention we got from Eduardo, Martha and their crew. From an initial welcome with ice water (or mescal!), to an on -demand daytime tour of the animals, to delicious meals served in the airy, thatched-roof veranda, to the nighttime tour: every interaction with ST staff was gracious and informative. And the animals, especially at night! Being only feet away from a jaguar crunching her dinner bones, staring us down...that is a once in a lifetime experience. Our cabin was also lovely and cozy. I can't say enough about this place; don't miss it.

The place was amazing! The cabins were clean, very well appointed. Nicest bathroom we have had in Mexico. The grounds were so nice. The food was so good! The hosts paid extra attention to every detail. The animals were amazing to see, very well cared for. The hosts take the eco-side very seriously. I cannot stress enough how FANTASTIC this place is. The concept behind the place and the fact that they are saving animals in need is a great thing. The animals are really well looked after and we were given numerous tours to see the animals which we loved. The hosts that looked after us (Martha & Eduardo )were exceptional and we both looked forward to our meal times and seeing them as every exchange was so nice. Genuinely two of the nicest people you could meet. We told Martha we were trying to learn Spanish and as a result she would be so patient with us and talk in as much Spanish as possible which we both really appreciated and loved. They were both so generous with their time and a day after leaving we both really miss them and this magical place. The accommodation is set really deep within the jungle which feels special. They have loads of blankets and 2 good heaters so it’s easy to stay warm and we were there in the coldest week of the year. There were two cooks (Jess and Sissy) and the food was wonderful. Really flavoursome and nice big portions to fill you up for the activities we had booked for the day. This place will forever be in my memory as one of my happiest times. Wonderful place to stay when in this city. Not only is the customer service great but the cabin is also a really quiet place to stay. The food is amazing. They had vegetarians options which I enjoyed. As well as sustainable practices such as reducing plastic with water provided in the room not being in disposable plastic. They gave great information on all the animals that they support who have been rescued. Eduardo and Marta were amazing! I’d highly recommend anyone stay here. Great location to micos Cascadas as well!

This is such a wonderful place to stay in the Huasteca Potosina. The cabins are very nice and clean. The hosts, Martha and Eduardo, and all the staff were so kind and helpful. But most important, the work they do to help animals is extraordinary!

Excellent stay, a lot of activities to do related outdoors activities and related to environmental and wildlife education, food is excellent and staff is amazing! The experience was very different to what I expected in a very positive way and food is just incredible, I'm definitely looking forward to going back staying for a longer period of time.
